At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
Introduction
The CERN Experimental Physics (EP) Department carries out research in the field of experimental particle physics, supporting several experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is a complex general-purpose particle physics experiment operated by an international collaboration to carry out fundamental particle physics research. The efficient operation of the CMS detector is largely determined by the ability to control and monitor detector functional and environmental parameters. The Detector Control System (DCS) of CMS is based on industrial control systems and software, customized and developed for the specific functional needs of the experiment.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in the implementation, testing, commissioning, and operation of the CMS DCS, maintenance and development work associated with said system, management of platforms, services, applications and networks.
