Our Work In Sierra Leone:

Partners In Health Sierra Leone LLC (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing a LAN, WAN, and Helpdesk team according to best practices while nurturing positive relationships with staff and leadership. They will be reporting to the Director of Operations to ensure that the IT infrastructure team is efficient, effective, and can adapt to both changing circumstances and growing needs of the PIH Sierra Leone program. The ideal candidate will also lead the IT team in administering satellite terminals; routers, point-to-point systems; security appliances; software deployment, and security updates and patches; manage printers; scanners, and copiers, including scheduling regular maintenance and ensuring availability of ink, toner, and related supplies. Support users by providing Help Desk services. Additional responsibility, include troubleshooting issues with Internet access, printers and scanners, Microsoft Office 365 platform including MS Teams/OneDrive; onboard/offboard staff as incoming and departing; deploy workstation/devices to staff; support basics of end user training; support building and managing PIH Sierra Leone IT Policies and maintain all configuration documentation and IT equipment inventories. Manage relationship with Internet Service Provider (ISP), including coordinating new equipment installations, upgrades, and repairs; support the boarder OnePIH Cybersecurity initiatives.

 

Main Responsibilities
Information Technology (IT) Manager

 

  • Support in all aspects of the IT Infrastructure, Including WLAN, LAN, WAN, Helpdesk Team
  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance
  • Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, and anticipating organizational requirements
  • Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues relative to IT software and hardware in a timely manner, including documentation of the supported components and procedures
  • Oversee the development and administration of help desk training procedures and policies
  • Maintain full coverage for help desk duties to ensure organizational IT needs are met
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Ensure IT infrastructure health by monitoring, tracking, and reporting on critical IT resources
  • Participate in all IT and security audits, hardware, and software evaluations, and maintain vendor relations
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Assist in establishing capital and annual budgets that result in a cost-effective, reliable, and efficient IT environment.

Qualification and Experience
 

Qualifications

  • At least 5 or more years of NGO/nonprofit/education or relevant experience
  • Bachelors / Master’s Degree in IT or related field preferred
  • English proficiency required; Kinyarwanda proficiency preferred.
  • Proven working experience as an IT manager with ability to manage personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and work well with all levels within an organization specifically within the culture and processes used in educational organizations.
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, including setup and operational knowledge of Windows, Mac OS X.
  • Basic understanding of Linux Operating Systems and doing basic tasks within them.
  • Experience setting up, configuring, and managing network components, including firewalls, routers, switches, point to point bridges, and wireless access points.
  • Strong understanding and experience working with Ubiquiti and Meraki hardware.
  • Strong proficiency in managing Mac OS X environment. and other google apps.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives.
