Duties and Responsibilities
The Policy Intern/Planning Intern will undertake a variety of tasks to support the OHCHR Policy and Planning Functions in the successful completion of their Work Plan. Under the direction and supervision of the Policy Officer/Programme Management Officer, the intern shall undertake the following tasks: – Support the harmonization of the guidance on development of governance documents eg. Policies, SOPs, etc and ensuring alignment with strategic requirements. – Contribute to the revision of the governance documents templates. – Assist in compilation, review, and updating of the database of existing governance documents while supporting the review of those outdated and liaising with focal points to facilitate the review. – Assist in updating the intranet and decision-tracking system with relevant policy documents and progress. – Support the implementation of the Organizational Effectiveness Action Plans (OEAPs) related to Leadership and Organizational Culture Shift. – Contribute to the monitoring framework for tracking OEAP implementation progress. – Assist in the preparation and organization of workshops and initiatives in line with the OEAP goals. – Support the development of communication materials, such as reports, presentations, and concept notes, infographics and videos related to the respective initiatives. – Assists in the analysis and presentation of data relating to the implementation of the OHCHR Management Plan (OMP) 2024-2027. – Assist in quality control (pillar results, human rights pledges, country programmes) in OHCHR’s Performance Monitoring System (PMS). – Assist in the review of project proposals and project related documents. – Assist in tracking the submissions and quality assurance of programme monitoring reports to donors. – Other tasks as directed by the Policy Officer or by the Programme Management Officer.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a second university degree, equivalent, or higher; (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants are not required to have previous work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is an advantage. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.
