Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Section, the intern will contribute to the activities of the Information Unit in the following areas: • Daily media monitoring and dissemination of news about UNECE (all languages, all on-line media, use of Meltwater, Factiva and news searches on the web), disseminated daily to all staff • Preparation of monthly and ad-hoc reports on the press coverage about UNECE, distributed to management • Preparation, scheduling and posting of content of UNECE accounts on X, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram + Hootsuite social media management tool • Preparation of engaging visuals and infographics for use on social media and website • Preparation and distribution of our weekly electronic newsletter in English (using Mailchimp) • Photo coverage of meetings and events • Drafting of news stories and other communications content • Translation of press releases and news articles
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Fluency in another official UN language is desirable, preferably French or Russian.
