The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

CSIS is seeking an intern to join a dynamic Diversity and Leadership in International Affairs team and assist in a variety of administrative projects and developmental assignments. This position will work closely with the DLIA Program Coordinator and Director to provide substantial administrative support. The DLIA Intern will be exposed to all facets of the Diversity and Leadership in International Affairs Project’s strategic plan efforts including, workforce diversity, organizational commitment, employee engagement and inclusion, and external engagement. This internship will be full-time, 35 hours per week.

The program is looking to hire someone available to work from June to November 2023. The intern is expected to work five days a week, Monday through Friday, for a total of 35 hours. The position will be predominantly in-person with some flexibility for remote working. The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($16.10/hour for current undergraduate hires, $17.10/hour for hires with a Bachelor’s degree, and $18.10/hour for hires with a Master’s degree).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide research and programmatic support for all DLIA events, workshops, and trainings.
• Regularly update the DLIA internal site with resources as needed.
• Actively manage content on social media promoting internal and external events.
• Conduct research and summarize literature on different topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Identify, attend, and take notes on virtual internal and external events relevant to the work of the Diversity and Leadership in International Affairs Project.
• Perform a variety of administrative and logistical tasks as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Professional, academic, or personal interest in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Previous administrative experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects & priorities simultaneously.
• Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
