Position Overview
The Events intern will assist the United Nations Foundation’s Events team throughout the event planning and execution process, facilitating operations and enhancing efficiencies across tasks. This role will be an integral member of the events team by initiating event kick-offs, supporting the foundation’s international events, and staffing core events such as United Nations General Assembly, the foundation’s annual gala, and internal celebrations. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy; enjoys structured approaches to project management and has strong interpersonal communication skills. They work well in a team environment but can handle assigned tasks independently.

Essential Functions
- Support the events team in the development, planning, and execution of virtual roundtables and webinars.
- Support the planning for UNF’s annual signature events.
- Attend hosted in-person events and help with check-in and other on-site logistics.
- Support the Sr. Manager of International Engagement and Advance with international trip planning and execution. Including passport collection, visa processing, and preparing briefing materials.
- Manage the events team intake form and schedule kick-off calls.
- Keep shared calendars, spreadsheets, and project trackers updated with current and accurate data.
- Project manage internal room booking and reservation support in NY and DC offices.
- Lead on the company’s special events, including luncheons, reception dinners, holiday events, and more!
- Assist in communications involving event management including BEOs, timelines, calendars, reports, diagrams, etc
- Assist in establishing and developing relationships with vendors and maintaining an internal preferred vendor list.
- Contribute to ongoing event planning research including for venues and potential relevant industry topics for upcoming hosted events.
- Upon completion of the internship experience, manage and execute UN Foundation’s annual holiday party – showcasing the work developed over the internship duration.
Selection Criteria
- The Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
- Background in communications, public relations, events, or non-profit work will be an advantage.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, strong communication and the ability to multitask and be courteous to all guests attending events.
- Remain calm under pressure and make decisions with maturity and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent project coordination skills, organization skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and handle stress.
- Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive, etc.) is essential.
- Familiarity with WordPress and/or Mailchimp will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of or interest in international development will be an advantage.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
- Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
- Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
