Girl Up is a girl-centered leadership development initiative, focusing on equity for girls and women in spaces where they are unheard or underrepresented. We believe when girls and women are in positions of influence, they work to create a more just and equitable world for everyone.
Girl Up operates a global network of regional affiliates reaching 200,000 girls in 152 countries. We deliver evidence-based leadership development training through our girl-led Clubs, programs, and events. As members of a global movement, girls are a force for social good — connected to a community of their peers who are advocating for policy change and advancing gender justice.

Girl Up was founded by the United Nations Foundation in 2010. The United Nations Foundation is an independent charitable organization created to be a strategic partner for the United Nations to address humanity’s greatest challenges, build initiatives across sectors to solve problems at scale, and drive global progress.
Girl Up is seeking an intern to support its Global Operations team. The Intern, Global Operations will learn about and provide support for Girl Up’s headquarters operations, regional and affiliate network, and team coordination/planning efforts. The Intern, Global Operations will report to the Manager, Finance, Girl Up and collaborate with many members of the Girl Up team.
Essential Functions
- Support Girl Up’s Global Operations team with task organization and project management;
- Conduct research projects for the Global Operations team;
- Support with data entry and analysis;
- Assist in drafting and/or editing content for internal documents;
- Assist with the collection of metrics, stories and reports for internal reporting purposes;
- Support Girl Up’s regional operations by helping with notetaking, drafting internal updates, and tracking tasks;
- Participate in internal and external meetings and support with notetaking;
- Support team onboarding efforts and the planning of teamwide bonding activities;
- Provide support with additional projects and tasks as needed.
Selection Criteria
- Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university
- Interest and/or experience in youth leadership and gender equality issues.
- Experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations.
- An interest in international, cross-cultural collaboration and communication.
- Acute eye for detail and superb organizational skills.
- Strong customer service experience – via written, phone and in-person communication.
- Experience in managing long-term projects as well as demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and competing tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
- Experience with project management software such as Asana a plus.
- Dependability, openness and flexibility.
- Self-starter with strong entrepreneurial spirit.
- Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic a plus.
- Commitment to fostering an anti-racist and inclusive workplace.
- This is a remote position.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
- Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
- Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
