This position is based at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) – Darmstadt, Germany
Under the direct authority of the Operations and the Product Assurance and Safety Department, the Product Assurance and Safety Office is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System/Information Security Management System (QMS/ISMS) and the PA&S function in projects, operations and Programmes of the Directorate. The Product Assurance and Safety Office is assigned as integrated support from the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality.
For further information visit our web site: http://www.esa.int
You can choose between the following topics:
1) Topic 1: Visualisation of all QMS and ISMS procedures
This topic will allow you to familiarize with the concept of process and its description. In particular, the available QMS/ISMS procedures in the Directorate shall be explained in terms of flow charts where:
The resulting flow chart will explain WHO is doing WHAT and WHEN within each addressed process. Some flow charts are already present, and can be used as reference. For the format of the flow chart reference can be made to available international standards.
A second visualization concerns the context of the process: this representation will be done with a Turtle chart. The resulting chart will explain the major drivers of the process: with WHAT, with WHOM, HOW, HOW MUCH. Some turtle charts are already present, and can be used as reference.
2) Topic 2: Quality of collected records
This topic will allow you to assess the contents of the records existing in ESOC within the ARTS application (e.g. anomalies, risks, lessons learned, etc.). The more a record is properly filled with the expected adequate information, the more it is relevant in all the applied statistics (DRIVER). On the contrary a record with poor information shall play a limited role (IRRELEVANT), when processed together with the others.
For each kind of record, the intern shall develop criteria to measure the quality of record contents and implement formulas or scripts to quantify such quality. Moreover recommendations shall be defined on how to use the results of these estimates, for example at level of key performance indicators and key effectiveness indicators.
3) Topic 3: Migration of key indicators to PowerBi
This topic allows you to handle the indicators identified for the results of an implemented process (KPI) and for the effectiveness of an executed process (KEI). The existing scripts in OPS-Q Sharepoint shall be migrated to PowerBi, by replicating the same formulas and real-time queries of the database. The user of this statistics may be offered a minimum of choice about the time span of records to select.
Dashboard shall be prepared by grouping the migrated indicators as needed. Links to such dashboard shall be implemented in Sharepoint. Some indicators are already migrated to PowerBi, and can be used as reference for the remaining part of the migration.
