Department

Private Business Development (PRBD) – Pact’s Private Sector Team leads and supports the development of partnerships with private sector entities, which includes corporations and foundations. The Team works with technical leads and country office staff to develop and shepherd project opportunities through from initial meeting or idea to successful receipt of funding. This also includes growing our innovative private sector consulting practice. The Private Sector Team is part of a larger Business Development team and collaborates with business development colleagues focused on work with public sector funders.

Position Overview

Pact seeks a Knowledge and Data Management Intern to support the coordination, synchronization, and analysis of our internal knowledge and data management efforts. They will provide data collection and collation, review, and administrative support to the PSE team and overall Business Development department on Pact’s project achievements and capacity statements, customer resource management platform and reporting, and ensuring that our data systems are kept updated with the highest quality for assured quality and usability. This position will liaise on behalf of the PSE team and Business Development department across all Pact impact areas (governance, capacity development and innovation, global health, responsible mining, energy and environment, and livelihoods) and country offices to collect project information and achievements, technical capacities and scopes, and relevant documents and data that will support Pact’s new business and partnership efforts. They will maintain and update all internal databases and information platforms. The Intern may also be asked to help develop various external- and internal-facing communications products for partnership development.

The Knowledge and Data Management Intern is expected to work 20 hours per week, and be able to abide by Pact’s hybrid work policy. Mandatory in-office days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationship management and organizational databases (Salesforce, SharePoint, and intranet) and develop a set of recommendations to address data quality issues and information gaps.
  • Assist in identifying and backfilling data quality gaps in Pact’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and other knowledge management platforms, in collaboration with the PSE team and Business Development Department.
  • Support and collaborate with appropriate staff to maintain knowledge management and databases, including CRM, PSE team and Business Development department job aids and processes, and other products as needed.
  • Work with the PSE team on updating and maintaining intranet site and resources.
  • Work with technical experts across Pact’s impact areas (governance, capacity development and innovation, global health, responsible mining, energy and environment, and livelihoods) to support the development of capacity statements, collation of project achievements and approaches, and curate pitch pack content.
  • Conduct due diligence on new partners and funders.
  • Support coordination of internal and external events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Employee complies with all company policies and procedures, including completing all compliance training topics by the deadline to satisfy each and receiving the corresponding acknowledgment statement that the training has been completed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinker with a can-do approach to problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives at the same time and manage priorities
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • High levels of technological literacy, ability to manipulate data in intranet web application platforms and databases.
  • Basic understanding of international development nonprofit operations
  • Ability to work in a diverse business culture
  • The Intern is expected to work approximately 20 hours per week, for at least 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s student preferred
  • Salesforce or other CRM experience.
  • Experience with writing capacity statements and developing pitch decks.
  • Ability to commit for up to 11 months.
  • Proficient in a second language, preferably one from a Pact-operating country (i.e. Swahili, Spanish, French, etc.)
