difference for Palestine refugees, an internship with UNRWA will give you the opportunity to
work on the provision of advice, training and assistance on matters and policies relating to
UNRWA’s mandate and areas of operation within the Central Support Services Division, in
UNRWA-HQ Amman.
UNRWA human development and humanitarian services encompass primary and vocational
education, primary health care, relief and social services, infrastructure and camp
improvement, microfinance and emergency response, including in situations of armed
conflict.
The mandate of the Central Support Services Division (CSSD) is to ensure continued
efficient, effective and high-quality support for substantive programmes in Headquarters and
Field Offices in the areas of procurement, travel management, and other general
administrative services. CSSD is composed of 70 staff members.
Responsibilities
Provide support to the development, re-design and/or the update of Policies (directives,
manuals, SOPs, guidelines, instructions) related to Property and Asset Management, in
consultation with internal and external stakeholders and taking into account the specificities
of UNRWA’s operations on the ground.
Assist and contribute to the drafting and preparation of periodical and ad hoc statistical
reports, presentations for agency-wide activities related to Property and Asset Management
aiming at enhancing efficiency and compliance.
Provide direct assistance and contribution to presentations, accuracy, completeness, and
correctness of data available in information systems, platforms and tools used by UNRWA
(HQ and field offices) to manage activities related to Property and Asset Management.
Provide support using the different asset management systems and software in place,
contribute to data cleansing initiatives.
Support compliance reviews and due diligence checks and verifications, using different tools
and processes, in line with the applicable rules and regulations.
Assist with periodic reviews of assets and property data to ensure compliance and monitoring.
Carry out spot checks on assets, in line with the established KPIs and monitoring
mechanisms.
Assist with operational asset management: asset receiving and inspection, asset tagging, asset
physical verification, asset disposal procedures – in HQ and in support to the field offices.
Assist the preparation of periodic and ad-hoc reports as well as technical reports and provides
final statistical data after conducting the required analysis and verification.
Assist the drafting and preparation of a variety of Property and Asset Management related
documents, contracts, communications, guidelines, instructions, etc.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
Education
Applicants must be students enrolled in, or have recently completed (i.e. commence internship
within one year of graduation date), either a graduate school programme (i.e. second
university degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or the final academic year of a first
university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent), with major area of
study in economics, business administration, supply chain, logistics, international trade or
related field.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations
during your internship.
Specialization in Asset Management, Logistics, Administration and Supply Chain and other
related areas is Desirable.
Experience in a professional office environment is an asset is Desirable.
Special Notice
Interns are not financially remunerated by the UNRWA. Costs and arrangements for travel,
visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring
institutions.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants may be requested to undertake the
internship remotely in view of constraints regarding visa issuance, international travel and
access to UN premises. Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship
remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.

At the stage of acceptance of an internship placement, interns must prove to the satisfaction of
UNRWA that they have adequate medical and accident insurance coverage prior to
commencing the placement.
Intern placements shall not constitute employment by UNRWA. Interns are considered to be
complementary personnel with non-staff status. The purpose of the internship program is not
to lead to further employment with UNRWA but to complement an intern’s studies.
Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship. Interns
are eligible to apply as external candidates for UNRWA staff vacancies in accordance with
normal selection procedures.
