About the position
The Intern student will support the crop modeling activities and climate services of the AgMetGAPS and PeruHub projects.
The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas, located in the Campus of Palmira,
Colombia.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the conceptual and mathematical development of specific agroclimatic indicators for
prioritized crops, which allow characterizing the impact of extreme climatic events in the producing
environments of these crops across the San Martin (Peru) department, to improve knowledge and
strategic planning of these production systems.
Develop scripts that allow the automatic calculation, at a spatial and temporal level, of the agroclimatic
indicators selected for each prioritized crop.
Provide in the conceptualization and programming (scripting) of mathematical models based on the
accumulation of thermal time, which makes it possible to predict critical crop stages (e.g., flowering and
harvest) in the phenological development of prioritized crops.
Other responsibilities will be assigned accordingly to the programs and unit demands.
Requirements
Qualifications and requirements
Students in their last semesters and suitable for internships in Agronomy or Agricultural Engineer, Applied
Mathematics or equivalent.
Familiarity and experience working with climate data (e.g., station data, CHIRPS), and related datasets
such as crop yield data, soils data, etc.
Experience and demonstrated proficiency in climate data analysis and agricultural modelling using R and/or
Python.
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
Competences
Ability to work cooperatively with others, flexibility in fulfilling assignments, and proactive in planning and
researching.
Strong interpersonal communications and teamwork skills; ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds.

This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixed term contract of six (6) months. The
