JOB DETAIL

Position Overview

​​The Universal Access Project (UAP) works to advance U.S. leadership on global sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ) through a pooled fund supporting best-in-class advocates; through strategic communications, media engagement, and direct advocacy; and through its unique role convening civil society, government, and multilateral partners in pursuit of health and rights for all.

UAP also hosts the Private Sector Action for Women’s Health and Empowerment initiative and the Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains, which mobilize corporate leadership and resources for women’s health, rights and empowerment in workplaces and communities worldwide. The UAP Intern provides support to and works closely with the entire UAP team to help further our work and mission.​

Essential Functions

​​​​Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • ​Research: Assist the UAP team in conducting research tasks for various team projects. Topics may include global sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice, the impact of COVID-19 on women and girls, workplace health and well-being programs, and other issues aimed at advancing women and girls.
  • ​Advocacy: Learn about advocacy by assisting with outreach, including drafting correspondence and preparing background material for presentations, and representing UAP at relevant virtual events.
  • ​Communications: Assist in communications efforts by monitoring and drafting materials for UAP social media, creating infographics and one-pagers, drafting monthly partner bulletins, and updating our media trackers.
  • ​Strategy: Attend UAP and broader UNF meetings and strategy sessions as learning opportunities.
  • ​Writing and Proofreading: Assist the UAP team in writing briefing notes, media scans, and other relevant reports, as well as careful proofreading of a range of external documents and websites
  • ​Administrative Tasks: Assist members of the UAP team with routine administrative tasks, including updating the team contact lists, updating the website with relevant news and publications as needed, coordinating, and planning internal team events, and note taking as requested. ​
  • ​Other duties as assigned.​​

Selection Criteria

  • ​​Background in gender equity; sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice; global health, international development, or related area preferred.
  • ​The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, produce high-quality work, be highly motivated, and able to work both independently and with a team.
  • ​Candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ​Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
  • ​Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
  • ​Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
  • ​Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
  • ​Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week within the working day of 9am-5pm EST.
  • ​Must be authorized to work in the United States.​
