Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will be tasked with supporting the internal communications strategy at the Office of the Director of the Division of Administration, with a specific focus on integrating environmental and sustainability issues into the communications framework. Key responsibilities will include: • Designing and updating newsletters for staff communication. • Facilitating communication with member states on environmental initiatives. • Assisting in the organization of events, particularly those related to environmental sustainability. • Performing updates on the intranet • Developing and implementing new outreach channels The internship is designed to help the intern gain practical experience in internal communications within an international organization. This experience will contribute to their understanding and development of effective communication strategies. The intern will produce detailed reports, analyze survey data, and contribute to various internal communication campaigns. These tasks will allow the intern to learn about internal communication in a large organization and understand the different target audiences for internal communication, especially in the context of promoting sustainable practices.
Qualifications/special skills
Interns must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field such as Communications, Public Relations, Business, or International Relations. Experience with environmental and sustainability issues is an asset. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must have: • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Good organizational skills and attention to detail. • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms.
Languages
Interns must be fluent in both French and English, as all internal communications at UNOG are conducted in these two languages.
Additional Information
The internship will be conducted in-person at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The intern will be provided with a laptop and necessary IT equipment and software, and a working space. The internship will be full time and in person, starting in October and will last for 6 months
