Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Section, the Consultant will provide guidance and assistance to UNODC per the previous purposes mentioned. The Consultant will perform the following tasks: • Finalize development of the Strong Families ToT package and Family United ToT package • Prepare West Africa to take part in the Strong Families ToT programme and evaluation. Avail preparatory materials for training and evaluation, conduct training and prepare trainees for working with families. Monitor the implementation. • Prepare and submit two academic publications • Support the preparation of one new international location to take part in Family UNited programme and evaluation (China) Avail preparatory materials for training and evaluation, conduct training and prepare trainees for working with families. • Support the preparation of one new international location to take part in Strong Families programme and evaluation (Iraq). Avail preparatory materials for training and evaluation, conduct training and prepare trainees for working with families. • Provide content for Family United online platform to draw in all feedback from piloting • Set up new country (Ukraine) to run an evaluation study of caregiving tools. • Present at UNODC regional and international webinars and the University of Manchester, on importance of Family skills programmes in addition to the UNODC programmes and evaluations.
Qualifications/special skills
– An advance university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology, sociology or related is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A PhD in any of these fields is desirable. – A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of family skills-based prevention including Training is required; – Technical competence in the area of implementing and researching family skills training programmes in an internationally recognized level is required; – Knowledge in working with families in low resource settings (particularly those exposed to trauma, including the refugee families) is required; – Technical experience in various evaluation methodologies and techniques including in conflict and post conflict situations is desirable; – Experience and ability to work in an international and multicultural environment is desirable;
Languages
– English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of any other UN Language (particularly Arabic) is an advantage.
