Through our internship program, we aim to bring new, innovative ideas into the Alliance. You will get a first-hand look at the inner workings of an international tech organization, while adding valuable skills and experience to your CV.

About the Program

We offer internships lasting between 3 and 10 months. Our internship opportunities may commence at any point during the calendar year.

Before starting your internship with us, you will have to obtain a security clearance thus we remain flexible on potential start dates. Our helpful security teams will support you with this clearance process.

During this program you will join and support different teams and simultaneously learn from our business experts via on-the-job training and shadowing.

About the Internship

  • Internship duration: 6 months

The Chief Technology Office (CTO) reports directly to the NCIA’s General Manager and is the NCIA’s leading technical authority. CTO leads the strategy of NATO’s digital transformation. This involves understanding our existing systems and technology and supporting the introduction of new systems and technology. CTO incorporates a variety of considerations in furthering NATO’s digital transformation, such as: new digital business concepts, data and information (including big data & artificial intelligence), cloud technologies, new architectural approaches, and driving technological innovation. The CTO strives to be operationally focused, forward leaning, and able to take strategic decisions that balance risk against transformation.

As an Intern – DevOps & SecOps, you will join the NATO Software Factory which provides DevSecOps services to 900 users and 60 teams and is growing continuously. The NATO Software Factory platform is running on the public cloud and utilizes modern software technologies (such as containerization).

Who you are:

  • A recent graduate or current student in a graduate or undergraduate school program in computer science, information systems or a related field
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Jenkins, Travis, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or Azure DevOps;
  • Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply to our internship program, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You are a national of a NATO member country
  • You are currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months
  • You have strong communication skills in English, both written and oral

We also request that you please attach the following documents to your application form:

  • Copy of the university degree you have completed and/or
  • Proof of ongoing studies with the dates clearly mentioned if you are still studying

Compensation

You will be compensated at a fixed taxable rate of 1,235.27 EUR per month, based on 38 hours of work per week and for travel expenses.
