Join us at the NATO Communications & Information Agency (NCIA) and immerse yourself in the diverse environment of an international organization. You will have the unique opportunity to work with colleagues from across the NATO Alliance and collaborate on ground-breaking projects.

We lead NATO’s digital endeavor and help enhance the way our member nations communicate and work together. We are on the frontlines against cyber-attacks and are in the midst of a fundamental technological transformation to help fulfill our mission: preserve peace and security for nearly one billion citizens.

Through our internship program, we aim to bring new, innovative ideas into the Alliance. You will get a first-hand look at the inner workings of an international tech organization, while adding valuable skills and experience to your CV.

About the Program

We offer internships lasting between 3 and 10 months. Our internship opportunities may commence at any point during the calendar year.

Before starting your internship with us, you will have to obtain a security clearance thus we remain flexible on potential start dates. Our helpful security teams will support you with this clearance process.

During this program you will join and support different teams and simultaneously learn from our business experts via on-the-job training and shadowing.

About the Internship

Internship duration: 10 months 

Location: The Hague, Netherlands

The Chief People Office (CPO) provides a solution-oriented service ensuring strategic human capital investments can be utilized to enhance timely and effective decision making to achieve the overall NCIA’s goals and objectives. CPO establishes and administers policies, guidance and best practices across its Centers of Excellence including Workforce Management, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management and Staff Services.

The Organizational Development & Change group within CPO leads the implementation of planned, systemic change via the beliefs, attitudes and values of employees for individual and NCIA-wide growth. It supports the NCIA to better respond and adapt to industry/market changes and technological advances.

As an Intern – Diversity and Wellbeing, you will:

  • Assist in diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) initiatives such as the International Women and Girls in Science 2024 project and the International Women’s Day 2024 project, and the execution of our 7 diversity dimensions action plans
  • Assist in wellbeing initiatives such as the Blue Monday 2024 project, the World Health Day 2024 project, and the execution of our 4 wellbeing pillars action plans
  • Assist in workplace culture initiatives such as the re-assessment of our culture guiding principles.
  • Draft different communication messages such as corporate news articles, CPO newsletter articles, newsfeed messages, community of practice notifications, and messages on the Diversity & Inclusion Portal and the Wellbeing Wiki-page
  • Participate in different strategic, tactical and operational meetings with a variety of stakeholders in order to support the DEI & Wellbeing agenda

Upon completion of the internship, you will:

  • Have an understanding and firsthand experience with diversity, equity, inclusion and wellbeing initiatives
  • Comprehend the intricacies of working in an international environment such as NATO
  • Have developed a skillset varying from creative writing to storytelling, from drafting strategic papers to operational organization of interventions and events

Who you are: 

  • A recent graduate or current student in a graduate or undergraduate school program in Human Resources or a related study
  • Passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and in topics related to wellbeing and mental health
  • Interest in workplace culture
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in communications
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Well-structured and has the ability to manage a variety of projects
  • Somebody who wants to make a difference and is a fast learner

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply to our internship program, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You are a national of a NATO member country
  • You are currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months
  • You have strong communication skills in English, both written and oral

We also request that you please attach the following documents to your application form:

  • Copy of the university degree you have completed and/or
  • Proof of ongoing studies with the dates clearly mentioned if you are still studying

Compensation

You will be compensated at a fixed taxable rate of 1,333.74 EUR per month, based on 38 hours of work per week and for travel expenses.
