INTERNSHIP FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND INSTITUTIONAL COORDINATION SUPPORT

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individual to support the GGGI Sri Lanka office in the capacity of a Communications and Institutional Coordination Support Intern, to strengthen stakeholder relationships to support coordination and promotion of green growth development initiatives of the organization in a variety of thematic areas, including climate action.

The assignment will include the followings but not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Country Representative Sri Lanka and team to support the coordination and establishment of national and sub-national stakeholder institutions and relations
  • Develop and review policy-friendly briefs, high-quality technical reports and notes, executive summaries, abstracts, etc., to improve communication outputs by GGGI Sri Lanka
  • Perform literature reviews (conduct systematic searches for both peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed articles as well as grey literature, and analyze relevant articles, working papers, reports, blog posts, etc.), and develop annotated bibliographies and technical papers/reports related to thematic areas under study
  • Support with the coordination and liaising work with vulnerable sector focal ministries and provincial agencies.
  • Analyze/review and summarize thematic reports submitted by the consultants of GGGI

  • Attend national level conference, participate in meetings, and field based missions in relation to the preparation of technical reports/briefs/publications
  • Synthesize lessons learnt and best practices related to initiatives on green growth development, climate action and building resilience
  • Assist in preparing technical briefing notes and presentations for meetings and discussions
  • Assist in preparing donor reporting documents
  • Assist the Country Representative with any other duties as required regarding developing high quality publication material.
ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months in environmental science, climate change, international development, or related field
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work
  • Possess an excellent command of English as well as national languages (Sinhala or Tamil).
QUALIFICATION
  • Excellent communication skills (writing and comprehension) in English particularly writing and/or editing experience in one or more fields related to green growth/environmental science/climate change
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in developing technical reports, papers, briefs and articles – undertaking research, primary and secondary data collection, data analysis and report writing
  • Appreciation of key concepts in research planning, development and management is highly desirable
  • Ability to work/deliver research outputs independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, multi-task, work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to details, high sense for quality and accuracy
  • A strong team player – working in a very collegial and collaborative manner with other team members and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage emotions and stress positively, and resolve conflicts easily
  • Experience in International Organizations, development agencies, or the non-profit sector would be an advantage. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral and multi-cultural team environment would be an advantage.
