About the Program

We offer internships lasting between 3 and 10 months. Our internship opportunities may commence at any point during the calendar year.

Before starting your internship with us, you will have to obtain a security clearance thus we remain flexible on potential start dates. Our helpful security teams will support you with this clearance process.

During this program you will join and support different teams and simultaneously learn from our business experts via on-the-job training and shadowing.

About the Internship

  • Internship duration: 6 months
  • Location: Brussels, Belgium

Executive Management provides cross-coordination of NCIA activities to ensure that the General Manager’s (GM) and Chief of Staff’s (COS) responsibilities and operations are synchronized and achieved on time. This includes proactive planning, management and prioritization of critical NCIA level investments and risks and coordination of internal and external engagements with stakeholders, senior committees and boards. Executive Management consists of the Partnership and Protocol Branch (PPB), the Executive Support Branch (ESB), the Executive Governance and Processes Branch (EGP), the Communications and Information Knowledge Management Branch (CIK), the Strategic Concepts and Initiatives Branch (SCI), the NATO Liaison Officer Branch (NLO) and the Industry Relations Branch (IRB).

As an Intern – Strategic Communications and Engagement, you will:

  • Produce Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) content in line with stakeholder needs and communications plans
  • Support production of Senior level Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
  • Capture data on NCIA’s most important stakeholders, significant annual events
  • Track and monitor stakeholder issues, emerging themes and support implementation of activities to resolve those issues
  • Support preparation of Senior level engagement at Conferences, events, external visits
  • Draft strategic messages in support of senior level engagements. Support the development of an NCIA-wide rolling script (one narrative across the NCIA)
  • Build relationship with NATO stakeholders (at staff level)
  • Attend political committees, boards where required

Who you are:

  • A recent graduate or current student in a graduate or undergraduate school program in Communications, public relations, international relations, diplomacy
  • Experience and knowledge in producing written communication (articles and social media postings)
  • Knowledge and experience in engagement strategies, marketing, branding
  • Experience and knowledge in organization of events, supporting senior leaders’ preparation for conference, meetings
  • Strong verbal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Knowledge of strategic communications
  • Experience with Office suite

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply to our internship program, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You are a national of a NATO member country
  • You are currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months
  • You have strong communication skills in English, both written and oral

  • Proof of ongoing studies with the dates clearly mentioned if you are still studying

Compensation

You will be compensated at a fixed taxable rate of 1,235.27 EUR per month, based on 38 hours of work per week and for travel expenses.
