Organizational Setting

The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) consists of the Office of the Deputy Director General, four regional Divisions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Latin America), the Division of Programme Support and Coordination and the Division of the Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT). It provides strategic direction for the IAEA’s technical cooperation programme, and is responsible (in close collaboration with Member States) for the planning, formulation, implementation and monitoring of the programme.

The objective of PACT is to assist Member States, within the IAEA’s one-house approach to cancer control and working closely with regional Divisions in the Department of Technical Cooperation as well as other relevant Departments and Offices, to introduce, expand and improve their cancer care capacity by integrating radiotherapy into a comprehensive cancer control programme that maximizes its therapeutic effectiveness and public health impact. The Division of PACT is headed by the Director PACT, who reports to the Deputy Director General of the Department of Technical Cooperation.

Main Purpose

The purpose of the internship is to: (1) gain knowledge about the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Programme and (2) gain exposure and become familiarised with the work of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization (PRM) related to the Agency’s flagship initiatives and other priority areas.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Gain an overall understanding of the Agency’s flagship initiatives and programmes through, inter alia, contributing to the formulation of donor proposals, and outreach and awareness-raising plans.
• Assist the PRM team in the preparation of donor and partner mapping and matching analysis, perform background research and identify possible areas of collaboration with external stakeholders.
• Support the development of PRM tools to facilitate internal workflows, database creation, and compilation.
• Assist with the planning, organization and conducting of in-person and virtual events.
• Any other tasks relevant as requested.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Social Science, Law, Economics, Public/Business Administration, Communication or a related field.
  • Experience in researching and compiling information and data from the internet.
