POSITION SUMMARY

The Investment Associate will support project development, preparation, and implementation for specific sustainable landscape projects. This position will support the development of investment projects, business cases, financial models, specialized financing vehicle concepts, and project proposals alongside with the Green Investment Officer – Sustainable Landscape and Sr. Investment Officer Sustainable Landscape to attract funding from appropriate funding institutions, bilateral and multilateral donor. This position should have knowledge to understand gaps and challenges in community-based business development and scale up, with experience in designing and/or executing proven concepts of community-based development projects.

PURPOSE

The Investment Associate will be responsible for executing determined activities of the Project “Sustainable Landscape Investment Partnership in Indonesia” which focuses on supporting Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 target in 3 scope of work: social forestry, multipurpose forestry business, and conservation/biodiversity. The role of this position is to ensure process integrity in program operation and specific program output, fully meeting established institutional policies, standards, and donor requirements across budget execution, procurement processes, monitoring and reporting, and other operational functions of the Program outcomes. The Investment Associate ensures consistent quality across a range of deliverables encompassing multiple processes in accordance with project requirements, GGGI policies and standards, and donor condition.

The Investment Associate will be required to engage and work with national and sub-national government counterparts in the sustainable landscape sector, financial institutions, private sector entities and associations, sustainable landscape-based CSOs, academicians, and development partners. The Investment Associate will provide day-to-day administrative and technical support as well as advisory to project teams & relevant government counterpart and other partners and stakeholders, ensure consistent quality delivery and provide a wide range of contributions in support of the delivery of components and workstreams in the province. This position will report to Sr. Investment Officer Sustainable Landscape. In day to day basis, S/he will work at GGGI’s Jakarta Office. S/he should be willing to travel.

ENGAGEMENT
  • Build and maintain relationship, ensuring constant channel of dialogue, support and professional communication with key government with relevant sectoral stakeholders in national and sub-national level. Engage closely with private sector, development partners, NGOs, academician, and experts in relevant field.
  • Support in strengthening collaboration between GGGI and government and non-governmental institutions, in particular for fundraising and developing projects related to sustainable landscape investment.
  • Support CSOs and community business groups in improving their capacity to access sustainable finance both domestically and internationally.
  • Identify concerns and hazards that will have an impact on program consistency and delivery and report them to the Sr. Investment Officer.
  • Identify delivery issues and work with sub national and/or national counterparts to build common understanding and coordination on project activities.
  • Communicate program requirements to service providers/suppliers and ensure that services/products are supplied in accordance with established agreements.
  • Apply appropriate technical abilities to collect necessary information/knowledge from a range of sources that are often difficult to access, in support of delivering a high-quality result.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other units and divisions at GGGI Indonesia for problem-solving, increase effectiveness of the Program, and ensure coordination and seeking opportunities to share lessons learned.
  • Coordinate with project proponents and financiers on the identified investment programs to push the projects closer to implementation.
  • Facilitate and nurture partnerships between local communities, investors, and government entities to promote sustainable landscape investments, including identifying potential collaboration opportunities, organizing stakeholder meetings, and supporting the development of joint initiatives that align with program objectives.
DELIVERY
  • Support in preparing, developing, and finalization of investment products produce in the Project, notably Investment Plan, investment pipeline development, etc. This will mainly support one of Outcome which requires close engagement with Indonesia Environment Fund.
  • Support in improvement of existing and development of new FOLU financing mechanism in accordance with IEF long term goal and Ministry of Forestry and Ministry of Environment initiatives.
  • Regularly conduct research and provide advisory support to Project team regarding to community-based business development, market research, industry trends, and policy and governance gaps and opportunities to enable investment in Sustainable Landscape sector.
  • Support in investment mobilization and policy development by analyzing regulatory gaps, drafting recommendations for enabling policies, and facilitating connections between potential investors and sustainable landscape projects.
  • Monitor and report on project and workstream activities to ensure efficiency and consistency as well as compliance with GGGI rules and regulations.
  • Support the monitoring of project budget to ensure that program resources are optimally allocated and utilized.
  • Provide insights and technical advice to the Sr. Green Investment Officer to help ensure timely delivery of project outputs and project implementation.
  • Execute operational and administrative services, particularly regarding the procurement of goods and services, to ensure prompt, responsive, accountable, and high-quality support provided to the Program team in Indonesia.
  • Support development of deal documentation and review of financial analysis, including investment teasers, investor pitch decks and information memorandums by compiling inputs from Investment lead and stakeholders into final product.
  • Compile inputs from Investment lead and relevant stakeholders to develop communication materials on green investments.
  • Ensure timely delivery of administration, logistics, procurement, and other operational aspects in cooperating with GGGI’s Rules and Regulations
  • Take a lead and close support for internal/external events, workshops, for example through the preparation of official letters, event invitations, preparation and coordination, or other relevant activities; and assess the effectiveness of the activities.
  • Prepare high-quality presentations and other information dissemination products under the supervision of the Sr Investment Officer.
  • Support in delivering monthly reports, quarterly reports, and annual reports in accordance with the monitoring mechanism set by GGGI.
  • Organize the delivery of sustainable landscape investment workstreams in tight deadlines and manage consultants and/or small consultancy projects.
  • Ensure the principles of gender equality and social inclusion are effectively reflected in all relevant activities including in program reports, workplans, and technical advice provided to the provincial government
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economic, Business, Finance, and Forestry Management.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience working and being responsible in relevant areas to the post.
  • Proven experience in green investment. Preferably in sustainable landscape sector.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of various financial products and services from Indonesia’s financial sector, both from government or private sector. Direct working experience with any of these products will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with working with government agencies in Indonesia.
  • Preferably has direct working experience or extensive network with government agencies notably related to forestry and environment as well as government-led financial institution such as Indonesia Environment Fund.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and working with inter-institutional programmes.
  • Understanding of the socio-political and cultural contexts of Green Growth governance in Indonesia.
  • Familiarity with the processes related to the procurement of goods and services
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
  • Excellent English and Indonesian oral and written communication skills, including public speaking

  • Experience developing successful project proposals for traditional providers of development assistance, as well as private sector is valuable

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The Investment Associate – Sustainable Landscape is an X6 grade level in GGGI’s National salary scale. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate’s experience, academic background and internal equity.
  • GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
