What is FOLU?
The
Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU), co-led by the World Resources Institute seeks to accelerate a transformation of the world’s food and land use systems to better protect our natural environment; provide nutritious and affordable food; strengthen the resilience and enhance the prosperity of people; and meet the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. FOLU aims to provide the practical connections, the evidence bases for action and a vision for change to drive a food and land use system transformation. We do this by:
- Partnering with those best-placed to develop and deliver messages regarding food and land use systems transformation within a given political economy;
- Working with national partners to develop compelling, evidence-based analyses, strategic land-use planning frameworks, pathways towards sustainable land-use and food systems, and policy recommendations; and
- Creating platforms and partnership models to encourage multi-stakeholder collaboration, both nationally and globally.
Food and Land Use Coalition in India
The Food and Land Use Coalition in India is a coalition of institutions working to support the Government of India’s efforts to bring about a more sustainable food and land use economy for the country. The aim of the Coalition is to convene and inspire key Indian stakeholders with a view to accelerating globally significant action which addresses the important development, climate, environment, biodiversity and health/nutrition challenges India faces in the coming decades.
The Food and Land Use Coalition in India supports policy research, engage directly with the Indian Government and other stakeholders to support the shift towards sustainable land use and food systems, and enables India’s rich experience and diverse perspectives to be shared with the international FOLU community.
The Food and Land Use Coalition in India comprises high-level policy engagement with national and sub-national decision-makers in the public and private sector.
The FOLU Coalition in India includes the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture Network (RRAN), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and WRI India.
Position overview
Food and Land Use Coalition India (FOLU India) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic illustrator to support us to create an infographic book. In this role, you will work directly with FOLU India team and a content writer to create illustrations to better explain complex scientific concepts of GHG emissions from the paddy fields to general audience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with a content writer and FOLU PMU to understand the requirements, target audience and other requirements
- Develop illustrations based on the content produced by the content writer
- Deliver high-quality illustrations in various styles and formats according to the project specifications
- Continuously interact with the content writer and FOLU PMU and maintain clear communication throughout the assignment
- Proactively suggest best practices to enhance the quality of the infographic book
Qualification and requirements
- Proven experience as a freelance or agency illustrator with a strong portfolio
- Excellent understanding of trends in comic/infographic books intended for general audience
- A interest towards nature conservation and awareness generation
- Proficiency in industry-standard illustration software
