1. Organizational Context
The incumbent would support the instructional design and development of new eLearning courses as well as assist in the updating of existing courses.
A. Organizational Setting
The WIPO Academy IP eLearning Section offers eLearning and blended learning programs on Intellectual Property (IP), catering to different target audiences including inventors and creators, business owners, IP professionals, policy makers and government officials of IP institutions, scientists, diplomats, students and teachers of IP and the civil society. For the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the IP eLearning Section has undertaken several projects which require instructional design and development support to deliver online and blended programs.
B. Purpose Statement
The IP eLearning Instructional Design Consultant will support the design and development of IP eLearning courses in the WIPO Academy, contributing to the execution and implementation of new projects and updating of existing courses.
C. Reporting
The incumbent reports to the Head of the IP eLearning and Internal Training Program of the WIPO Academy.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with WIPO Academy and subject matter experts, to plan and design and develop e-learning courses/modules including learning outcomes, interactive learning activities as well as formative and summative assessments.
• Create storyboards and templates for eLearning content based on the learning design.
• Develop engaging and learner-centric multimedia content (videos, images, infographics) aligned with instructional design and accessibility best practices.
• Ensure accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with WIPO’s standards and international best practices.
• Update and enhance courses based on feedback and industry insights.
• Liaise with project leads and SMEs to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Participate in relevant training and workshops to further professional development.
• Stay updated on trends and best practices in instructional design and technology.
3. Requirements
A. Education
• A university degree (bachelor’s or master’s) in instructional design, instructional technology, online course development, educational technology, training and development, adult learning and/or other relevant areas is required.
• Certification in Intellectual Property will be an asset.
B. Experience (Essential)
• At least 3 years of experience in instructional design, course development, implementation, and evaluation of eLearning courses or related work is required.
• Demonstrated experience in utilizing course authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar software to develop interactive and engaging eLearning content.
• Familiarity with multimedia tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond, Synthesia, Powtoons or similar tools is required.
• Extensive experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS). E.g.: Moodle.
• Strong project management skills with a proven track record of collaboration in diverse teams.
C. Experience (Desirable)
• Experience in designing eLearning courses with accessibility features, such as closed captions, alternative text descriptions, keyboard navigation, and compatibility with screen readers, to accommodate learners with disabilities.
• Skills in HTML, coding, general formatting, layout, and graphic design.
D. Language (Essential)
• Fluency in English both verbal and written is required.
E. Language (Desirable)
• Proficiency in additional UN languages is an asset.
F. Job Related Competencies (Essential)
• Strong technological proficiency and familiarity with MS Office 365 suite, multimedia development tools and course authoring tools such as Articulate 360.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team including virtual teams.

4. Payment
Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss Francs (daily rate).
