JOB DETAIL

Result of Service

The incumbent will ultimately be responsible to provide the following:

• Physical access control door readers, video surveillance cameras, PIDS sensors mounted and connected
• ICT Infrastructure equipment including LAN switches, servers, wireless access points mounted and connected
• Structured LAN Cabling, wiring closets, fiber enclosures, patch panels, and racks installed
• Technical documentation for assigned tasks/activities

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Chief, ICTS, and the direct supervision by the Head of Cloud, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Unit, the IT Assistant (Physical Security Systems Specialist) will perform the following tasks:

• Assist in installation, troubleshooting, repair, and configuration of Access Control System, Video Surveillance System, Perimeter Intrusion Detection System, and other various security related systems
• Assist in installation, troubleshooting, and configuration of ICT infrastructure equipment including network switches, wireless access points, cabling, patch panels, racks etc.
• Coordinate installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and associated equipment that support voice and data network
• Coordinate installation of equipment such as raceways, trunks, and conduit
• Assist in routine inspections, testing and maintenance of ICT infrastructure equipment
• Assist Network Engineers, System Administrators and Helpdesk when necessary
• Assist in creation and maintenance of network and datacenter diagrams and detailed site documentation

Qualifications/special skills

A high school diploma with specialization in electronics or related area is required.

A minimum of 5 years of work experience in Physical Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance Systems, and Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems with experience in building and maintaining integrated physical security technologies such as electronic access control, video surveillance, motion sensors, intruder detection/alarms, chip-based pass and ID technologies is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English is required.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
