Organizational Setting

The Division of Information Technology provides support to the IAEA in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management. It is responsible for planning, developing and implementing an ICT strategy, for setting and enforcing common ICT standards throughout the Secretariat and for managing central ICT services. The IAEA’s ICT infrastructure comprises hardware and software platforms, and cloud and externally-hosted services. The Division has implemented an IT service management model based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and Prince2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) best practices.The Business Technology Coordination Section (BTCS) manages the implementation of the IAEA Business Technology Strategic Plan, coordinates the development of Agency ICT policies, standards and guidelines, and facilitates ICT governance across the Secretariat. BTCS also provides project and product management and information architecture services to the Division of Information Technology.

Main Purpose

Reporting to the Section Head, BTCS, the IT Project Assistant provides specialized support to the implementation of IT projects, including the provision of user testing and training. The IT Project Assistant supports inter-departmental communication related to IT, and facilitates the gathering of user requirements.

Functions / Key Results Expected

Provides project management support to specialized IT projects in particular with regard to development, integration and implementation.
– Assists Project Managers and teams with the technical, administrative, and logistical aspects of IT projects.
– Assists in the development and maintenance of project plans and timelines.
– Coordinates and tracks project tasks, assignments, and deadlines.
– Maintains project documentation, records, and files.
– Prepares and distributes project-related correspondence, reports, and updates.
– Helps in the identification and resolution of project issues and risks.
– Assists in gathering user requirements and translating them into technical requirements.
– Collects, organizes, and maintains project data and information.
– Participates in user testing and maintains comprehensive user manuals and documentation for reference and knowledge-sharing purposes for assigned projects.
– Supports the preparation of project relevant training materials and runs user trainings as required.
– Any other duties as required.

Required Expertise

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

Completed secondary education, preferably from a Technical School.

Minimum of six years of relevant hands on experience providing ICT technical operational support, including ICT user support, requirements gathering and writing, user testing and user training.

Excellent oral and written command of English and German. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Administrative skills test to IAEA standard may be part of the process.

 

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 61171 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks’ annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
