Junior Expert – Grants Coordination*
in Antananarivo
The position is to be filled by January 1, 2024 with a contract duration of two years. Employment location will be Antananarivo, Madagascar.
As Junior Expert – Grants Coordination you will provide essential grants management support to the Head of Programmes in delivering quality and successful programming of Welthungerhilfe’s (WHH) Madagascar Country programme. You will ensure grant management throughout the grant management cycle, including submitting timely and high-quality reports to donors and updating grants management information in the WHH project management information system. You will also ensure and provide guidance on donor’s compliance and internal WHH grants’ rules and regulations and will be responsible for grants management capacity building efforts to projects’ staff.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and implement a funding strategy, in close collaboration with the head of programme, country director and area managers, and in line with the WHH Madagascar 2023-2026 country strategy
- Identify and analyze funding opportunities in line with the WHH Madagascar 2023-2026 country strategy and the strategies of the main donors
- Plan, organize and evaluate (pre-select) new project ideas and concept notes in close collaboration with the head of programme
- Coordinate the preparation of concept notes including logical frameworks for proposed projects in collaboration with all stakeholders
- Coordinate the preparation of funding applications according to instructions received and in close collaboration with all stakeholders
- Ensure that funding applications meet quality standards and donor expectations and guidelines
- Identify co-financing options where appropriate
- Train WHH Madagascar teams in fundraising and/or funding applications
- Supervise the organization and preparation of narrative reports in close collaboration with the head of programme, area managers and project teams
- Ensure the production of quality narrative reports that meet the expectations and requirements of the donors
- Provide teams with advice and recommendations concerning compliance with donor rules, in close liaison with the Donor Unit at head office
- Act as focal point for supervising the updating of documents and processes in the PROMIS software
- Support the Head of programme and Partnership expert in the development and implementation of the WHH Madagascar partnership strategy in line with the WHH Madagascar 2023-2026 multi-annual strategy in collaboration with the partnership expert
- Support the Partnership expert in partners’ due diligence and evaluation processes, as well as the development, implementation and monitoring of partner reinforcement plans when required
Your profile
- A university or college degree in international development or another field relevant to the position
- First job-related experience in project or grant management (reporting) in the Global South
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Word and Excel as well as cloud-based information management
- Demonstrated interest in international cooperation (relief and development) and reducing hunger and poverty
- A high level of mental and physical resilience and a willingness to work in difficult settings
- Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhlfe’s project countries
- Excellent spoken and written English, French and German
