The Office of the Director General– ODG – Division has five units: Governance, Partnerships, Strategy, Korea Liaison, and Communication & Knowledge Sharing Units. The ODG Division supports the Director General (DG) with partnerships, strategies, results, change management, communications, governance, and advisory services. The ODG Division is both internal facing, in that it supports GGGI as whole to fulfil its strategic vision, and external facing in that it supports the DG in developing and maintaining relationships with partners and mobilize resources. The ODG Division ensures the DG is effectively supported to play his role as the ‘global voice’ for green growth.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Office of the Director General is looking for a dynamic, data savvy and results-oriented Junior Professional Officer to support its activities in relation to GGGI’s pilot initiatives on data management, visualization, and the use of artificial intelligence. Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Junior Professional Officer provides support across GGGI to successfully implement these initiatives. In addition, the JPO supports the ODG in the delivery of its key commitments. S/he contributes to the effective, quality and timely delivery of relevant tasks necessary for the successful fulfilling of the Division’s mandate.

PURPOSE

The JPO will support the design and roll out of pilot innovative data management practices and their applications across GGGI in portfolio management, reporting and communications both in Headquarters and in countries. S/he will contribute to delivery of key priorities the Strategy, Partnerships and Communications Units of the Office of the Director General.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Works across divisions in GGGI in support of initiatives related to data and data management, data aggregation, organization, analysis, visualization and communications.
  • Engages with teams and colleagues across divisions to build their capacity on issues related to data and data management, data aggregation, organization, analysis, visualization and communication.
  • Collaborates with other units and divisions of GGGI on identified joint activities to ensure integrated delivery as ‘One GGGI’.

DELIVERY

  • Supports the design and implementation of initiatives related to data and data management, data aggregation, organization, analysis, visualization and communications.
  • Supports the capacity building of GGGI teams across Divisions on data literacy and the use of data related tools.
  • Supports the ODG in the delivery of its key commitments, including preparation of documents and presentations and the organization of events.

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master’s degree in data science and analytics, computer science, social sciences, life sciences, environment, and other relevant disciplines.
  • Two years post-graduate work experience in relevant areas of data science. The experience can include internships, volunteering, and unpaid assignments. The experience can be gained within a candidate’s country or outside.
  • Demonstrates commitment and passion to green growth through their academic studies and paid/unpaid work experience.
  • Age 32 or under at the commencement of the program.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, ability to speak additional language pertaining to GGGI’s member countries would be a plus.
  • Must be a national of GGGI member countries [see GGGI’s website for our up-to-date list of member countries]

FUNCTIONAL

  • Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills and evidence of teamworking.
  • Experience with data architecture, governance, management, data analysis and visualization is required.
  • Excellent MS Office application skills are required. Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience of setting up and using databases/data warehouses/ data lakes and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., BigQuery, AWS, Azure, Snowflake etc.) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (i.e. Python, R, or SQL etc.), is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of applications of artificial intelligence (AI) for data analysis, portfolio management and overall operations efficiency improvement is an advantage.
  • Experience of living and/or working in multi-cultural contexts is an advantage.
