In response to critical health needs exacerbated by damage to health infrastructure, movement bans due to ongoing conflict, and targeting health facilities in certain areas, HI aims to improve access to quality physical rehabilitation and mental health and psychosocial services (MHPSS for conflict-affected vulnerable populations ( including the injured) while strengthening the capacity of existing health structures.

DESCRIPTION :

Project Objectives:
The overall objective of the P&O project in Ukraine is to support the access to, and quality of prosthetic services for people who have undergone lower limb amputations through the modalities of temporary prosthetics and 3D printing.
Quality improvement is also done through supporting the development of a multi-disciplinary approach to prosthetic fitting and supporting the capacity building of physiotherapy services provided pre, during and post prosthetic fitting.

General description of the role:
Under the responsibility of the Prosthetics and Orthotics Project Manager, and as part of the prosthetics and orthotics project team the Technical Officer contributes to the implementation of Humanity & Inclusion’s prosthetic and orthotic project in Ukraine.
The focus of their activities is to increase the capacity of Ukrainian physiotherapy staff to provide quality rehabilitation to patients with lower limb amputation, as well as supporting the implementation of a multi-disciplinary approach to prosthetic fitting.

Specific responsibilities:
• Contribute to the assessment of health facilities who are supporting people with lower limb amputations and makes recommendations for HI’s interventions to support the facilities
• Carry out training needs assessments of the physiotherapy staff working with this client groups
• Design and implements training sessions to physiotherapists and P&O staff
• Carry out on the job coaching and associated assessments of staff working with this client group
• Make recommendations of equipment and tools that could support the development of quality physiotherapy services for patients in this client group
• With the support of the project manager and working in collaboration with P&O technical officer, support the facilitation of a multi-disciplinary approach to prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation
• Contributes to the design and effectively uses tools to monitor the effectiveness of their interventions, suggesting adaptations to tools as indicated
• Explores approaches to support the longer-term professional development of physiotherapists working with this client group

PROFIL:

Education:
Bachelors or masters degree in Physiotherapy essential

Knowledge and experience:
Essential:
• At least 3 years of clinical experience working as a Physiotherapist
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience of working with patients with lower limb amputations at different stages of their rehabilitation, including acute early rehabilitation and prosthetic rehabilitation (in a setting where this client group make up a significant component of your caseload)
• Knowledge of the factors to consider when assessing for prosthetic-readiness
• Knowledge of specific approaches, tools, guidelines and outcome measures used in the assessment and treatment of patients with lower limb amputation
• Knowledge and experience of specialist techniques used with patients with lower limb amputation such as stump compression
• Experience of training adults in a professional setting
• Experience of coaching and supervision
• Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural team
Desirable:
• Experience of working within the humanitarian or development sector
• Experience of working in a cultural context outside of your own
• Experience of working with a translator for clinical work and / or training

Personal profile:
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Excellent communication skills
• Good general cultural awareness (self and adapting to another culture)
• Adaptable and a good team-player
• Able to live in an insecure environment, at times under strict security rules

The international contract provides social cover adapted to your situation:
Unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals
Pension scheme adapted to the situation of our employees: If you already have a personal pension scheme HI will contribute at the same level as your monthly contribution with a maximum of 272.53€/month; If you do not have a personal pension scheme, we will open a private pension account with your contribution of 272.53€/month and a contribution of HI of the same amount
Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution; Repatriation insurance paid by HI
Salary from 2 350 € gross/month upon experience
Perdiem: 559,65 € net/month – paid in the field;
Hardship: 500 € net/month paid with your salary
Paid leaves: 25 days per year;
R&R: 5 days every 8 weeks => + possible transport/package support.
Position: unaccompanied; Payment for travel costs (air ticket & visa)
Housing: Collective took in charge by HI
