Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Library & Archives of the United Nations Office at Geneva. The incumbent will be project manager for the Library and Archives’ Strategic Heritage Plan (SHP) renovations which will affect public areas, offices and collection storage areas and entail a closure of the main building and collection moves. The incumbent has a double reporting line to the Chief of Institutional Memory Section and the Chief of Library Services Section.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Assists management with preparations for the SHP, reporting and follow-up during SHP and the design of the knowledge systems framework for services to be offered by the Library Services Section and the Institutional Memory Section of the UN Library at Geneva. 2. Oversees the interface with relevant partners: • Maps partnerships across stakeholders’ groups • Liaises with experts and stakeholders • Proposes to management partnership frameworks to maintain the Library and Archives as a global centre for the study of multilateralism. 3. Develops and maintains together with relevant colleagues the Library and Archives Monitoring and Evaluation Framework: • Suggests new lines of theoretical analysis of service evaluation; • Proposes substantive models for monitoring and evaluation of knowledge services; • Creates and leads task groups of Library and Archives staff to test new monitoring applications; • Provides change management support to both Chiefs of Sections as needed. 4. Provides support and substantive backstopping to management: • Leads and coordinates within Library & Archives and coordinates with SHP and contractor teams on project planning and coordination, risk management support, logistics and operations for planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, communication, stakeholder liaison and support, move and storage of collections, staff and equipment, and safety aspects; • Provides guidance to and supervision of professional and general service staff as required; • Drafts and monitors budgets and performance reports in specific project areas; • Coordinates the organization of consultative and substantive meetings, including the identification of participants and the drafting of the agenda; • Provides coordination for communication and outreach activities; • Identifies opportunities and communication tools and platforms to raise visibility of the Library and Archives’ knowledge services; • Represents the Library and Archives with presentations on assigned topics.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information management, library science, archival sciences, social sciences or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of experience at the international level working in library or archives management or programme/project management in the area of knowledge services or related area is required. Experience with maintaining partnerships is desirable. Experience in managing complex projects applied to library or archives involving several stakeholder groups is desirable. Experience with managing library or archives constructions, renovations or moves is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of Italian is an advatange.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
