JOB DETAIL

The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research, partnering for impact, and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.

Landscape facilitator

Overview

CIFOR-ICRAF will be implementing the CASEVE-GTI project (Green and Resilient Northern Cameroon – Integrated Landscape Governance) between July 2023 and June 2028. We will use an integrated landscape management approach to solve the triple challenge of (i) supporting a growing population, (ii) preserving biodiversity, and (iii) mitigating and adapting to climate change. The intended impact of this action is a more inclusive territorial governance that promotes conflict prevention. We are therefore looking for two landscape facilitators to lead the implementation of CASEVE-GTI activities in the respective landscapes in North of Cameroon and facilitate multistakeholder processes and platforms.

Duties and responsibilities

Provide technical lead in developing multistakeholder processes at landscape level (map actors, analyse networks and power relations, review existing platforms, establish and facilitate multistakeholder platforms); in collaboration with other members of the project team and partners, develop strategies for the roll out of project activities. Assist the Project Coordinator in day-to-day management of the project and in partnership development at landscape level. Contribute to the project monitoring and evaluation system, the digital platform for information sharing and to communication and public awareness events. Contribute to data collection on zoning and management plans and other evidence with a view of identifying conflict “hotspots”. In collaboration with other staff, produce publications, such as technical reports, technical sheets, training manuals, blogs, policy briefs and journal articles. Contribute to resource mobilization. Requirements Solid theoretical background (MSc or Ir level) in social, economic, political sciences, or international development studies, or having a solid environmental and agricultural background with practical experience in inclusive participation and governance issues. At least 2 years of experience in working in multi-disciplinary and multi-actor teams.
