The position is located in the Somalia Security Forces Support Unit (SSF SU), Mission Support Centre (MSC) Section of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) and is based in Mogadishu. The incumbent will report to the Chief of SSF SU in the Mission Support Centre.

• Prepares drafts of various, complex logistics plans for Logistics Support Plan, Briefing, Decision Notes, Feasibility Analysis and submits to his/her supervisor for review. Somali jobs

• Prepares drafts budget requirements for planned or ad hoc requests and submits to his/her supervisor for review.
• Manages logistics operations including management of logistics assets, material and personnel. Ensures timely, accountable and cost-effective delivery of support including cargo and personnel.
• Attends routine and operational meetings to liaise across stake holders in UNSOS and SSF to ascertain logistic requirements and coordinate day-to-day activity in support of operations.
• Raises and approves where applicable; Cargo Movement Requests (CMRs), Air Tasking Requests (ATRs) and Movement of Personnel (MOP) requests as and when required to facilitate the movement of commodities and personnel.
• Coordinates and provides logistics support to ongoing SSF operations. Somali jobs

• Identifies requirements and shortfalls within his/her unit and submits to supervisor for logistics plans; and manages special logistics operations.
• Keeps required records of logistic activities and level of essential supplies.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Recognized technical or vocational certificate in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience of practical field logistics operations is required. The minimum years of experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level University degree. Experience in drafting logistics reports, and developing logistics plans, policies, and SOPs is desirable. Prior logistics experience in UN Common System Field Operations or comparable International Organization supporting military or police operations in a conflict or post conflict environment is desirable.
