About CARE:
CARE helps women and girls in developing countries lift themselves and their families out of poverty and out of crisis.
We bring people together to end inequality. Not just for one person, but a whole community. Not just for now, but for a lifetime and across generations. We develop solutions with women and girls and their communities to tackle the big issues facing them like climate change, economic empowerment, food security and emergency relief in times of crisis or disaster.
About the role:

CARE Canada is looking for a Manager, Business Development

ABOUT THE ROLE / WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

CARE Canada’s Global Programs Team is responsible for developing and managing the organization’s programs in both development and humanitarian assistance focusing on the injustice of poverty and gender inequality. The new Strategic Plan reaffirms our gender-equality focus and our dual-mandate status. Our ultimate impact goal is to support women’s leadership for a gender-just future grounded in strong programs supporting safety/protection, health and dignified livelihoods across both humanitarian and development settings.

The Program Design & Development team, within the Global Programs Unit, directly mobilizes programmatic financial resources for CARE’s mission, working in partnership with Program Quality and Program Management teams to support Country Offices to have the funds they need to deliver quality, impactful programs. They collaborate closely with other relevant units in the organization including Philanthropy, Global Programs (program quality and impact, and program management in particular). This includes traditional program funding through the Canadian government, other institutional donors, multilaterals and more, in close collaboration with the Philanthropy team.

Under the leadership of the Director, Program Design & Development, the Manager, Business Development plays an integral role in CARE Canada’s Global Programs Department by facilitating and coordinating the design of quality, impactful programs that funders can’t resist. A collaborator at the core, they seamlessly bring together technical experts, program managers, country office teams, financial specialists, amongst many others, to reach this goal.

The Manager, Business Development is responsible for, among others:

  • Identifying new funding opportunities and resource mobilization strategies, participating in donor engagement and stewardship, along with supporting other revenue development efforts.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships in program design.
  • Maintaining the smooth functioning of the processes that lead to these successes.

They work in close collaboration with Global Programs colleagues, as well as those across the CARE Confederation, to build and maintain funding and programming partnerships, leading to secured funding for CARE’s priority programmatic work. They ensure strong alignment of new program opportunities to the CARE International Program Strategy, with a particular focus on ensuring gender is meaningfully included in all program design, as well as all our program quality standards. They contribute to the success of the team and ensure that our work is aligned to CARE Canada’s values and approaches in all that they do, with decolonisation as a core principle.
