Position Title: Manager, Communications
Location: Headquarters Office Department: Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub
POSITION SUMMARY
The communications lead is a full-time position dedicated to overseeing the public image of the Innovation Hub and facilitating communications with internal and external audiences. The communications lead will be responsible for creating, managing, and communicating content; messaging, and strengthening the communications skills and capacity of other team members. Position Purpose: Manage all communication needs for the Innovation Hub. Position Overview: The communications lead manages the organization’s internal and external communications activities including advertising, marketing, media relations, program reporting, and collateral materials and maintains the Hub’s website and social media channels.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities Strategic planning to communicate programmatic opportunities & grow audiences and participation at the Hub. Manages Hub’s website, including content development, maintenance, SEO, and other integrations. Manages the Hub’s brand. Social media content development, promotions, and advertising. E-Newsletter development and deployment. Collateral materials design for Hub programs (flyers, presentations, reports, signage, etc.) Liaises with the educational team to assist with the development, deployment, and promotion of educational materials and videos. Manages assets and collects stories. Establish tools and templates for team members to use to effectively communicate their department’s needs and glows.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, required. Experience: A minimum of 6 years’ experience as a communications lead or manager. Computer/Technical Skills: Graphic Design Adobe Creative Suite Website Management Using WordPress with Divi Theme Facebook/Instagram Business & Ad Management Communication Skills: Advanced written, oral, interpersonal communication, proofreading (grammar, style, syntax, spelling, and punctuation). Language: English language proficiency required; Spanish language proficiency would be an advantage. Required Travel: Minimal; less than 5% Position-Specific Skills: Development of strategic communication plans. Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media best practices. Ability to develop strong communication strategies that create a better understanding of and support for the Hub’s mission and programs. Effectively implement the tactics that support the Hub’s communication strategies.
Commitment of time outside the regular workday schedule to meet necessary deadlines, complete current job assignments, and maintain customer satisfaction. Ability to exhibit and maintain a professional manner at all times. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of assignments. Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and work effectively, using independent judgment to complete assignments and meet timelines. Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Possess an excellent work attitude and the ability and willingness to take ownership/responsibility for project completion; demonstrated ability to provide initiative in meeting expectations and accomplishing required tasks. Knowledgeable of professional practices in the field of communications and public relations. Capable of working effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Additional Skills of Interest: Experience as a “maker” (artist, engineer, craftsman, hobbyist, musician) Experience in entrepreneurship development Video production and editing experience Experience with Canva and Camtasia Physical Demands: Typical office environment with continual sitting or standing required.
