The Role:

The Manager position is the key contact of action of the Girls Led Climate Action Programme to demonstrate youth-centric, especially young women, climate action through local risk profiling, develop solution and implement sustainable adaptation action in most vulnerable communities in urban & rural Bangladesh. This post holder responsible to coordinate with project partners and stakeholders to ensure Programme development and its caling up, highly quality programme and project outputs and outcome delivered in a timely manner. The incumbent will maintain close coordination/functional relationship with Plan’s regional colleagues, concerned authority, institutions/departments, stakeholders and like-minded organizations for better quality implementation. S/he will be responsible for conducting & monitoring training/campaign, advocacy interventions to ensure programme quality, documentation and dissemination of Programme’s learning and good practices.

The post holder report to Country Manager–Humanitarian Action and will be base in Dhaka of Bangladesh Country Office with extensive travel (70%) across the country. S/he will Lead the ideation and innovation process of developing a high-quality climate action and resilience programming building on the lessons and learning from existing project/s and aligning with context and needs. Lead project cycle management of existing climate action project/s ensuring Plan’s Programme cycle management system and ensure quality Programme delivery including reporting, budget management and team management. The incumbent should be the lead of mainstreaming climate change issues in other projects and programme of Plan International Bangladesh – both development and humanitarian set up and provide support to the country management team regarding climate change issues and how it is impacting to girls and children lives and how Plan should respond to it in programme vision. S/he will ensure operational delivery, in-line with organisational and donor policies and procedures for the programmes within his/her role portfolio. Also build and hold relationships internally with thematic lead, MERL team, Geo-leads, relevant Programme manager, Gender & Inclusion advisor, influencing team, campaign manager, communication manager and System & Operations team including finance team to ensure the delivery of high impact programmes for girls and young women.

What we’re looking for:

We need a self-motivated and energetic individual with Master’s degree preferably in development, climate change, resilience or a relevant field. S/he should have at least 6 years of Proven track record of INGO/NGO programme management in complex humanitarian settings and environments. Must have at least 5 years of experience in managing minimum 2 million budget management and at least 3 years of experience in managing team. S/he should have solid understanding of climate impact in vulnerable location & community affecting youth and especially girls in Bangladesh. Also, excellent and proven donor narrative and financial reporting skills with strong understanding of development and civil society actors, academician, network relevant to programme concept activities in the Bangladesh.

S/he should have demonstrated skills in conducting capacity building initiatives for local partners in strategic, influencing and advocacy programming with excellent knowledge of spoken and written English essential. Excellent and demonstrated skills as a team player, team builder and collaborative and constructive co-worker is a must. Should also have solid understanding of the social, political, and economic issues affecting child rights, demonstrated experience of, and commitment to, both mainstreaming gender within programmes, as well as directly promoting gender transformation and girls’ rights throughout programme implementation and organizational practices. Strong willingness of extensive travel, including but not limited to difficult geographic location using multiple mode of transport and large degree of self-management, including proven ability to plan workload and demonstrate accountability for outputs is also desired.
