JOB DETAIL

Description

IFC — a member of the World Bank Group — is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities. Our mission is to leverage the power of the private sector to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet.

The Environmental & Social Policy and Risk Department (CES) serves as the guardian of IFC Environmental and Social (E&S) policies and standards (http://www.ifc.org/performancestandards). The department is responsible for providing independent E&S expertise, advice, guidance, and review of E&S risk management across the Corporation. In addition, CES provides global support to IFC’s regional ESG teams, embedded in operations. This support includes assistance with project-level stakeholder engagement and grievance response, E&S knowledge sharing and training, as well as the development and implementation of E&S systems and tools.

IFC’s success as a development institution reflects more than half a century of experience in private sector development in emerging markets. This experience has provided IFC with a large body of knowledge — particularly in E&S risk management — that we share with our clients and others. Today IFC’s E&S policies, guidelines, knowledge products, and tools are widely used, helping companies raise their E&S performance, implement good international industry practice, build capacity in their organizations, and attract more investment in emerging markets. IFC has also developed several ESG learning programs and provides a range of resources and tools accessible as public goods. Through these resources specifically tailored for emerging markets, we share our knowledge and expertise with clients and, more broadly, with interested companies, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders.

CES is looking for a highly motivated development professional with proven leadership skills and relevant experience to lead the Knowledge, Learning and Systems (KLS) team. The successful candidate will manage the team of 15 staff to promote IFC’s thought leadership in E&S space by developing good practice guidance and tools on emerging E&S issues (such as GBV, biodiversity, labor, supply chains, climate, etc.), training programs for staff and clients and new systems such as ESG 360 (a one-stop-shop for ESG processing, disclosure, supervision, and a client portal) and MALENA (IFC’s ESG Artificial Intelligence analyst).

The KLS Manager will work closely with IFC’s regional ESG teams, Industry Departments and Communications & Outreach Department.

The KLS Manager will report to the CES Director and is part of the CES Leadership Team.
