World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Manager, Private Sector Engagement

Major Function

WWF’s Private Sector Engagement (PSE) team seeks to harness the power of business as a force for driving positive environmental change and has partnerships with 100+ leading companies on engagements spanning from sustainable commodities, emission reductions and watershed management to reducing the impact of packaging and single-use plastics to employee engagement and consumer education campaigns. The Manager serves as a key contributor on the PSE leadership team and collaborates closely with PSE’s transformational partnerships team and WWF’s conservation teams – shaping the impact framework and metrics for WWF’s corporate partnerships. The Manager is responsible for developing and managing global partnerships that support WWF’s work with companies. This position also drives special projects assigned by the CEO or SVP as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Works together with PSE leadership and the leadership of WWF’s conservation teams to shape the impact framework and metrics for WWF’s corporate partnerships across conservation areas, leveraging the evolving landscape of public ESG reporting to shape an updated impact framework and reporting structure for WWF’s ambition, influence, and achievements in working with corporate partners.
  • Oversees the WWF Corporate Engagement Due Diligence function, managing WWF’s process for identifying the most material issues to advance with our partners at a programmatic level and risks to mitigate in potential partnerships.
  • Manages the development of research materials, projects, analyses, reports, presentations, and communications that support WWF’s goals with the private sector. Acts as technical expert on WWF private sector engagements. Responsible for acquiring and gathering data relevant to specific conservation projects from conservation peers, governmental agencies, and universities.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with corporate partners, universities and academic institutions, and NGO representatives. Manages corporate partner relationships and projects, and positions WWF as a trusted sustainability partner and expert on climate change and environmental conservation issues.
  • Advances WWF’s mission by convening and engaging in multi-stakeholder initiatives, in order to influence decision makers and outcomes, and positively advance the dialogue surrounding the issues under discussion in order to address problems at a scale that is meaningful to achieving WWF’s goals.
  • Collaborates with the WWF Network in order to advance WWF’s goals as related to landscape-based approach, packaging, material science and related subjects; by providing technical expertise and support, building relationships with network colleagues, and connecting complimentary efforts in order to address global issues across geographies.
  • Works closely with WWF’s conservation experts across our conservation goal areas on corporate engagement strategy, implementation and reporting.
  • Provides management and oversight to direct reports as appropriate (including interns, other PSE employees, and external vendor contracts, for example under the WWF Corporate Engagement Due Diligence function), and provides mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Represents WWF at relevant events and meetings related to sustainable business partnerships. Participates in stakeholder, partner group, and donor meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 8 years of relevant professional work experience on sustainability, ecosystem services or similar analyses is required (advanced degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in corporate sustainability and ESG analysis & reporting.
  • Experience working in or directly with large multinational companies preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required and experience with GIS, database and/or other business information technology preferred.
  • Excellent research, analytical, communications and project management skills.
  • Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively, under pressure, to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • International experience and language other than English preferred.
