The Vice Presidency for Corporate Support integrates Budget and Business Administration, Human Resources, Communication & Outreach, Strategy & Operations Management, and Information and Technology departments under one umbrella to enable the execution of IFC’s strategy and address operational needs in the most effective manner.

IFC’s Budget & Administration Department (CBA) includes budgeting, investment and advisory support, administration, procurement support, real estate, and facilities management functions. CBA has the mandate to connect the dots across the organization and bring insight and consistency to IFC’s resource management.

IFC is headquartered in Washington DC and has 107 Country Offices globally, with a footprint totaling approximately 2.3 million gross square feet (half of which is in Washington DC). These properties are a mix of owned and leased real estate. As part of the integrated WBG service delivery model for real estate and facilities, the Real Estate and Facilities Management Unit (CBARE) is responsible for IFC’s corporate real estate, including construction and project management, facilities management and capital budgeting, and related areas.

IFC is seeking to hire a highly motivated and qualified Manager to lead and manage IFC’s Global Real Estate and Facilities function, working closely with the Global Corporate Solutions Department (GCS) of the World Bank and other stakeholders in IFC and across the WBG.  The Manager will serve as part of the integrated WBG real estate and facilities leadership team, and report to the Director of CBA. The position will require significant international travel.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES  

The role requires a strong mix of technical experience in the field of internal corporate real estate, projects/construction/property/facilities management, strong skills in business and financial management, a proven track record in managing people, and superior communications and organization skills. Experience with large corporate or international organizations is required.

Key areas of responsibility include:

•  Ensure that the real estate strategy aligns with and supports IFC’s strategic business direction in close collaboration with senior management and business operations.
•  Deliver IFC’S global corporate real estate services from strategy to execution and ongoing management of IFC’s facilities portfolio in a safe, healthy, secure, sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective manner, in close collaboration and coordination with GCS.
•  Contribute to and oversee the implementation of the WBG global real estate and facilities management standards, including workplace and space standards, policies, and processes.
•  Guide/advise IFC internal clients in all corporate real estate, related administrative functions, project management and facilities/property management related initiatives.
•  Collaborate and coordinate with multiple internal and external service providers. and ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into every aspect of IFC’s global real estatepPortfolio.
•  Maintain appropriate fiduciary and quality controls in line with WBG and IFC-specific corporate standards, policies and procedures.
•  Advocate for and drive operational excellence and efficiency across all real estate & facilities functions and services, promoting superior reporting and analytical support, transparency, simplicity, standardization, and automation while providing high-quality services to internal clients.
•  Champion best-in-class organizational development and people management of a globally dispersed team of real estate & facilities staff.

 

Selection Criteria

•  Master’s degree or equivalent level of education in related fields and a minimum 15 years of relevant international corporate real estate experience. Professional qualifications and certifications such as RICS, PMI, MCR etc. will be advantageous.
•  Personal and professional integrity, the courage of convictions, and willingness to challenge the “status quo”.
•  Proven ability to initiate and drive strategy and vision in the corporate workplace environment, considering its impact on staff well-being and productivity.
•  Proven experience in successful implementation of complex/challenging projects in emerging markets with strong technical knowledge related to building construction, acquisition, leasing, operations, and engineering.
•  Strong business acumen and proficiency in financial management and budgeting.
• Results-oriented, client-focused, and practical approach to problem solving.
•  Proven track record of developing global real estate management systems and reporting and applying data to drive decision-making.
•  Demonstrated experience of process, systems, and policy improvement and change management to achieve operational excellence and client satisfaction.
•  Excellent people management skills and openness to feedback, and new ideas and demonstrated ability to help guide staff to solutions for problems. Proven ability to manage globally dispersed teams.
•  Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively across cultures.
•  Ability to establish “partner” relationships with the clients and take personal responsibility and accountability for timely response to client queries, requests, or needs, working to remove obstacles that may impede execution or overall success.
•  Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity and deal with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
