Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of death worldwide. Nearly 43% of the population in Bangladesh is in the age group of 6 months to 19 years are exposed to at least one NCD risk factor. Early diagnosis of NCDs in children could help health managers control the increasing burden of these diseases in adults. In this study, a comprehensive and scalable pediatric NCD service delivery model will be developed at primary health care systems in two districts of the Dhaka and Khulna divisions in Bangladesh, in collaboration with NCDC, DGHS, pediatric NCD experts and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
The Medical officer will report to Principle Investigator and will be responsible to plan, organise and monitor Non Communicable Diseases project activities, collaboration with relevant department of government and international partners, coordination with National Advisory Committee, Scientific Advisory Group, Scientific Working Group and UNICEF, MIS and Non Communicable Diseases Control Program of DGHS for developing treatment guidline; provide training at the facility level; prepare proposals for funding, supervise and coordinate the research studies, coordinate with donors to finalize grant agreement, financial and administrative activities WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF providing effective and efficient project support to enable research activities WITHIN the guidelines of the Centre guidelines (such as Institutional Governance Framework – IGF and Gender Diversity Guidelines).
He/ she will be responsible for:
- Synthesize evidence from the situation analysis of pediatric NCDs in Bangladesh.
- Developing implementation plan of facility survey in two districts. Implementation plan for developing treatment guideline, participatory training/workshop with stakeholders;
- Understand research protocol and align implementation plans across partners;
- Meet regularly with subordinates to monitor deliverables against timelines and criteria.
- Involve in developing research grant and cooperate to PI. Contribute to the publication of research articles in peer-reviewed journals
- Implement facility survey and hospital record at the facility level in two districts (Bagerhat and Kishoreganj);
- Coordination with community leaders to seek buy-in for research activities;
- Involve in developing treatment guidelines for pediatric NCDs;
- Direct team to implement research activities (fill questionnaire, administer intervention etc.) when required; .
- Prepare report and share findings with the supervisor in order to execute activities in accordance with research protocol;
- Development of study tool and conduct the protocol training for research staff as per good clinical practices guideline.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, expert groups formed in the study and government partners including MIS, NCDC of DGHS, health managers at the study sites;
- Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organization; Encourage team members to collaborate across areas;
- Address and resolve any diversity related issues;
- Set goals and conduct appraisals for the team;Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.
Required qualification and experience:
- MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with one-year completed internship training with a valid BMDC registration.
- 3-5 years of experience in relevant Field;
- Must have adequate knowledge of Clinical trial.

Tk 1,21,585/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
