This position will be hired at the Immunobiology, Nutrition and Toxicology under Nutrition Research Division, icddr,b. The Medical Officer will report to the Principal Investigator of the projects and will be responsible for project Implementation and supervision in the field sites, with special focus on monitoring health and wellbeing of child participants, in coordination with the stakeholders/sub-recipient/partner organizations. S/he will be involved to–
- Conduct meeting with local GoB entities, Law and Enforcement agencies, NGOs, Community representatives and Social figures to announce the starting of the vaccine study in the locality, and provide suitable answers against concerns raised;
- Design and plan for weekly implementation of study activities for the field team. Supervise, monitor and direct team to implement field related activities; Maintain liaison with PI /other investigators/ Study coordinator/Medical Monitor for proper implementation of the study;
- Conduct eligibility assessment, seek consent from the guardians of child participants by explaining the study background, providing rationale and answers to the questions raised;
- Evaluate child participants from the study area, conduct physical examination and collect clinical history as per study protocol;
- Record basic demographic information and detailed participant history in Data Collection Form (DCF) and electronic Case Report Form (eCRF); Oversee and help collect biological samples from participants; Resolve any queries by taking appropriate measure;
- Coordinate with team for timely sample collection from enrolled participants in the field sites or hospital/clinic, sample transportation, and analysis by Lab team; Compile and record results; Update records in hard copy files and electronic database;
- Follow-up on the health of child participants and record health outcomes;
- Immediately update PI/ Study coordinator/Medical Monitor on any notifiable events particularly Reactogenicity Events, Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events of the participants; Prepare draft SAE reports and slides for submission to Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) by the PI;
- Submit request for clinical tests, Interpret test results in consultation with senior clinician co-investigators, and coordinate with supervisor/PI for appropriate actions;
- Prepare documentation of all interviews and observations and share the feedback in the staff meeting routinely in order to ensure continuous progress monitoring and constantly improvise the project implementation processes;
- Prepare reports and share data with the study coordinator/PI in order to execute activities in accordance with the research protocol.
Required qualification and experience:
- MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). Candidates having Masters in Public Health (MPH) and training in GCP and BLS will be given preference;
- At least 3 years of relevant experience including experience in field implementation and conducting of clinical trials

Contract Type and Duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk. 127,664/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
