The Lab Business Development and Specimen Reception Unit oversees all laboratory sample collection centers of icddr,b throughout the city. The unit is responsible for coordinating various aspects of laboratory outreach operations, including client management, registration, billing, sample collection, and report delivery activities.
Position description:
The Medical Technologist (MT) reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics will be mainly responsible for performing following duties and responsibilities:
- Collect biological samples from paying users, hospital patients, staff clinic. Label samples according to the requested tests; Serve customers with good attitude and assist them as much as possible;
- Arrange proper distribution of specimens for testing in different sections of the laboratories. Troubleshoot any problem regarding sample collection and transportation;
- Check request forms and physician’s advice/slip to identify and list the tests to be performed on paying patients, and suggest the external users as per guidelines on the collection procedures of specimens;
- Enter the patient’s demographic information and requested tests into the computer to produce money receipt and laboratory investigation forms. Enter patient data accurately in to Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS);
- Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment for their optimum operation and perform minor trouble shooting. Maintain temperature log for sample as well as temperature log in transit through cool box;
- Contact with bio-medical engineering for maintenance works of medical equipment; control temperature as per guidelines in order to ensure proper maintenance and use of equipment with safety and security.
- Follow institutional bio safety procedure during sample collection and waste disposal. Train junior staff for spill management and waste disposal.
Required qualification and experience:
- Bachelor’s/ Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology;
- 3-5 years’ experience in relevant field;
- Preference will be given to the candidates having prior work experience as phlebotomist in last 2 years;
- Candidates should possess proficiency in fundamental computer applications and android apps, including the Google platform and MS Excel, MS Word; should be able to troubleshoot day to day minor technical problems;
- Candidates should have an understanding of the Laboratory Quality Management System (QMS);
- Prior experience of working in ISO accredited labs will get preference;
- Candidates must be team friendly with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment, displaying patience, kindness and tact in managing clients.
Location: Dhaka
Contract Type and duration:
- Fixed term basis for 01 Year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk.547,120/-inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
