County Health Team (CHT) and District Health Teams (DHTs)

• To accompany the health workforce in Maryland county with the goal of increasing access to mental healthcare.
• To increase the frequency of visits and increase mental health awareness and the amount of screening for mental illness at the hospital and community.
• To improve the quality of mental healthcare provided to the hospitalized patients.

• Supporting mental health care at assigned mental health clinic together with the MOH clinicians every week day.
• Provide care, reschedule or redirect patients presenting at clinic during non-clinic days.
• Assess and provide care to patients at the mental health clinic under the supervision of a senior clinician.
• Provide care to homeless and other patients in the community under the oversight of the community coordinator.
• Respond to inpatient consultation requests.
• Respond with Emergency mental health consultation request under the guidance of a senior MH clinician.
• Take part and support the organization of mental health awareness raising, promotion and prevention activities in the facilities and in the community.
• Receive supervision and coaching from the PIH facility MH coordinator and other senior clinicians (both MOH and PIH).

Programmatic responsibilities

• Document mental health activities and report to the facility mental health coordinator.
• Assist with mental health program monitoring, evaluation and quality improvement efforts.
• Ensure the documentation of all activities including patients in registers and in the electronic medical record.
• Support the facility mental health coordinator in his administrative and programmatic tasks such as reporting, planning and logistical coordination for mental health activities.
• Carry out other tasks within his or her professional competencies determined by his or her supervisor.

• University graduate in nursing and board certification with minimum of two years of mental health nursing experience.

Technical Competencies

• Experience in management of common mental disorders. mhGAP trained clinician is desirable.
• Ability to organize and manage outpatient mental health services.
• Confidence working in a clinical setting with a variety of people and stakeholders.
• Experience working in health projects-especially projects where risk of stigma is high.
• Experience collecting and assembling data.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy skills: must demonstrate competence in the use of MS Office Programs, in particular MS Word and Excel.
• A Nurse with a certificate in Mental Health is an added advantage

• Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner, highly developed analytical skills.
• Exemplary interpersonal communication skills required to interact effectively with senior leadership, partners, and clinicians on sensitive and confidential issues;
• Ability to work in teams, conflict-management skills;

• Evidence of providing culturally sensitive and competent quality care in a stressful environment;
• Proven commitment to social justice and human rights;
• Experience living and working in resource-limited environments is strongly preferred
