The Opportunity

 

The MIYCF-E Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the nutritional well-being of mothers, infants, and young children among crisis affected populations including refugees. This position is keen to address the urgent needs of these vulnerable groups during emergency responses, aiming to reduce malnutrition rates and improve overall health outcomes. The role will contribute to creating lasting change by implementing targeted nutrition programs, promoting best feeding practices, and ensuring comprehensive care in collaboration with other health and nutrition interventions.

The Individual

  • Education BSc in public health, Midwife, nursing
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in a similar position
  • In depth knowledge and experience of health and nutrition programming in the humanitarian context essential.
  • Familiarity with MIYCF activity in Emergency Settings, including refugee/displaced people setting
  • In depth knowledge of primary health care system
  • In depth knowledge and experience of AMYCN and IYCF-E implementation
  • Strong organizational and supervisory, Strong writing and reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments and Cross-cultural Awareness
  • Ability to work within a team structure, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources

Languages Required

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge of local language will be an asset

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;
  • Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
