About the program:

World Resources Institute (WRI) is an independent, nonprofit global research organization that turns big ideas into action, making progress for People, Climate and Nature. WRI Europe’s regional office is in The Hague, The Netherlands. There is also a large presence in London, United Kingdom. Additional experts and staff are based in Bonn, Germany under the NDC Partnership and Istanbul, Türkiye under Cities program.

 

Internship Highlight:

The Multimedia Internship at WRI Europe offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic and nimble communications team based in The Hague. WRI Europe is dedicated to advancing sustainable and climate solutions across Europe and aligned with WRI’s global work to make progress for people, nature and climate. In this role, the intern will work on creating impactful multimedia content that highlights climate challenges and solutions, contributing directly to WRI Europe’s mission to elevate environmental issues through compelling storytelling.

Ongoing mentoring will be part of this assignment. You will be supported in this role by the Head of Communications and Social Media Associate of WRI Europe, and report to the Head of Communications.

In this role you will:

  • Develop professional multimedia skills in content creation, video production, and editing
  • Contribute directly to WRI Europe’s visibility by creating videos and social media assets aligned with WRI’s brand
  • Gain experience working with industry-standard tools like Asana and learn to manage editorial calendars
  • Build a portfolio of impactful videos, showcasing personal stories and innovative climate solutions across Europe

 

What you will do:

In this role, you will assist in producing, editing, and publishing video content across WRI Europe’s channels, highlighting stories that drive change and expand our digital reach.

Content Creation (50%):

  • Assist in producing video content for digital channels, including video shoots, editing, and graphic asset management
  • Create social media content, including project highlights, event recaps, and data visuals
  • Ensure content aligns with WRI Europe’s brand standards and messaging
    Support strategic video projects like “In Conversations With” and solution showcases

 

Social Media Support (30%):

  • Assist in managing the editorial calendar, coordinating content to match strategic events and themes
  • Track and report on social media engagement metrics to refine future content strategies
  • Engage with our audience by monitoring comments and messages, fostering an active online community

 

Special Project (20%)

  • Collaborate on the “In Conversations With” video series, which will focus on personal climate impact stories and innovative solutions
  • Collect and assess data on video performance to improve content quality and reach.

 

What you will need:

  • Currently pursuing a degree or qualification in a relevant study area
  • Interns at WRI Europe must be registered in a study program with a Dutch college or university for the full duration of the internship
  • Interns must have established approval from their University to undertake an internship before applying
  • Experience with video editing tools and creating content for social media
  • Proficiency in English is required; additional European language(s) are a plus.

 

Conditions of the internship:

  • This is a 5-6 month internship with a start date of March 10 2025
  • This internship will be based at the WRI Europe office in the Hague with some flexibility to work from home
  • This internship offers a reimbursement of 700 euros per month based on full-time working hours (32 hours per week).
