Background:
The Government of Uzbekistan and UNESCO have been implementing the “Skills Development in Rural Areas of Uzbekistan” project, funded by the EU. This project aims to support the development of relevant skills of women and men for sustainable, diversified and modernised agriculture in Uzbekistan. This project will contribute to improving the quality, relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of the skills development system in the agriculture and irrigation sectors, initiated by the Government of Uzbekistan, with a particular focus on the rural regions selected by the national stakeholders (Karakalpakstan, Khorazm, Bukhara, Surkhondaryo).
Within the component III of the project (to modernize agriculture and irrigation colleges in rural areas with competent management and teaching staff using modern technologies and teaching and learning methods), procurement of laboratory equipment needs to be carried out in the four selected college and technical schools in four different pilot regions. These procurement works require engineering expertise to develop specific requirements of the equipment and to ensure close monitoring of the installation process.
To this end, UNESCO is hiring a national consultant to design and develop specific requirements of non-standard laboratory equipment and to monitor the installation process in four selected colleges and technical schools in four different pilot regions of Uzbekistan. In addition, the consultant is expected to conduct market research identifying the main providers of non-standard laboratory equipment for educational purposes.
