The Opportunity:

As the Medical Coordinator, the role will be responsible for overall technical oversight and leading RI health teams to ensure the quality implementation of projects and the achievement of all objectives. In collaboration with the WOS Health and Nutrition Advisor, the Medical Coordinator will provide technical leadership to the health program teams, ensuring that all activities are of high quality and align with assessed needs. The coordinator will ensure the proper tracking of public health trends and monitor the impact of health project activities on the target population while supporting proposal development. The Medical Coordinator will ensure that both internal and local health standards are applied and followed, maintaining consistency and appropriateness in approaches, methodologies, tools, and systems used across all RI health and nutrition programs in Northeast Syria. Additionally, technical support, guidance, and capacity-building will be provided to both RI and partner health teams.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

You will provide technical leadership for health and nutrition programs, ensuring they meet global standards and deliver high-quality services. You will oversee planning, implementation, and capacity-building efforts to improve healthcare delivery, conducting regular field visits to assess and enhance program quality. Your role will also involve supporting rapid emergency responses, conducting assessments, and contributing to the development of proposals and reports for stakeholders. Additionally, you will ensure the integration of health programs with protection and WASH initiatives, promoting collaboration with partners, donors, and health organizations to enhance program visibility. As a representative of RI in various forums, you will advocate for adherence to best practices, identify and address gaps, and foster synergy with other agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Essential criteria

  • University degree in Medicine or nursing with extensive clinical training
  • Master’s degree in public health, or medical specialization in obstetrics, pediatrics or internal medicine is an added advantage
  • Proven clinical experience in health care settings such as Hospitals or PHCs.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of proven professional experience in health program management in emergency response programs, preferably in a conflict setting; including experience with major grants.
  • Proven knowledge of Primary Care interventions and Hospital management is desirable.
  • Proven professional experience in design and implementation of programs in at least 3 of the following fields: nutrition, community health, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, child health, non-communicable diseases, emergencies.
  • Experience managing and coordinating emergency/rapid responses – outbreaks, population displacement, etc.
  • Advanced skills in technical leadership, coordination, representation, planning, needs assessment and project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and strategic planning skills required.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, Sphere and HAP Standards.
  • Strong English language skills (writing and speaking) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience of working with INGOs and partners is highly desirable.

 

 

Desirable criteria

  • Fluency in Arabic and Experience in the Middle East context is desirable.
