As a network engineer, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of UNRWA schools’ network and IT infrastructure specially the Wi-Fi as a service(WaaS) project. The candidate will work closely with the FIMTO team and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the stability, reliability, and security of the school’s network environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Network Engineer’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Designing, configuring, and maintaining the school’s local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
• Supervise the external vendors in the deployment of WiFi as a service (WaaS) Project in all targeted UNRWA Schools and perform all necessary coordination with FIMTO and education departments.
• Deploying and managing network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Monitoring network performance and ensuring optimal network operation and availability.
• Troubleshooting, resolving, and reporting network-related issues and outages promptly.
• Implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
• Collaborating with other IT team members to plan and execute network-related projects.
• Investigating and resolving faults / outages in the schools Wired and wireless network.
• Reporting network status to key stakeholders
• Conducting network capacity planning to ensure scalability and efficiency.
• Participating in the assessment and recommendation of innovative technologies and solutions to improve the schools’ network and infrastructure.
• Any other duties that might be assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
• • Bachelor’s degree in Computer / Telecom. Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in the field if ICT infrastructure (mainly wired and wireless networking)
• Proven experience in designing, configuring, and managing complex network infrastructures.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security concepts.
• Familiarity with Campus wireless systems.
• Proficient in network monitoring and management tools.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNA-Wireless or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Driving License

The Network Engineer will report to Field IMT Infrastructure Officer and collaborate closely with the FIMTO Telecom. / Network Engineer
