Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA’s nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the IAEA’s activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure, and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security. The Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) is part of the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security and reports to the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department. The IEC serves as the IAEA’s focal point for preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological incidents and emergencies regardless of their cause, and for strengthening Member States’ preparedness for response. Main Purpose The consultant will provide technical expertise and implement activities related to the IAEA’s response to international and national nuclear and radiological events, so that the IAEA can fulfil its legal obligations under the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident and the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency. This includes: to prepare, implement and evaluate table-top and field response exercises (ConvEx), developing relevant documentation and providing related training. The consultant will provide technical input and expertise to the delivery of IEC’s programmatic activities related to the implementation of the international response arrangements for nuclear and radiological emergencies, and to the provision of emergency assistance in the framework of the Assistance Convention. Qualifications and Experience
Remuneration The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent. |
