Remuneration: US$ 1,300/month

Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 216 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 12.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Internship Assignment

The Intern will be based in the ​Office of Risk Management and Compliance​. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his knowledge and experiences by assisting in the understanding, review, development and implementation of risk manageme​nt and compliance operations within the GCF. ​

Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the ​Office of Risk Management and Compliance,​ the Intern is expected to:

  1. Gain an understanding of the current Risk Management Framework implemented by the Green Climate Fund, including integrity and Anti-money Laundering related risk management
  1. Provide support to the review and revision of the Risk Management Framework, including risk register and risk dashboard and other support activities
  1. Conduct research related to risk management and compliance best practices and trends
  1. Such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

Upon hiring, the intern and supervisor will develop an indicative workplan designed to identify the primary activities and goals and objectives of the internship. The intern will be encouraged to identify his or her own goals and objectives so that these can be considered into the workplan.

Requirements and qualifications

  1. Enrolled in master’s program in ​Economics, Finance, Law, Sustainable Development, Business Management, ​ or related fields.
  1. Knowledge of and experience with ​Climate Finance Concepts is an advantage​
  1. Good understanding and experience in operations of international organization is an added advantage.
  1. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  1. Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  1. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language is an advantage.
