The Equality and Rights for All Practice team delivers on the UNAIDS Secretariat’s goals of reducing inequalities. This specifically refers to ensuring that the HIV response is gender-transformative, rights-based and people-focused – People Living with HIV, key population and youth (including Adolescent Girls and Young Women) – in a manner that is community-led, inclusive and progresses societal enablers. The team also delivers on the organizational agenda to remove human rights barriers and intersecting gender inequalities. It does that by developing and sharing policies, guidance, research and tools that support legal, policy and social norm change; by advocating for a greater political commitment; and by convening communities of practice and leveraging existing and new partnerships to continuously identify and respond to the inequalities driving the HIV epidemic.Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the guidance of the Director, Equality and Rights for All, and in close collaboration with other members of the team and across the Organization, the Officer, Knowledge Management coordinates the effective sharing and utilization of knowledge related to gender equality, human rights, community engagement, and youth engagement and leadership in the HIV response.
He / she has the following key responsibilities:
1. Knowledge management system implementation
a) Supports the setting up of the Practice’s knowledge management system in full concordance with the corporate knowledge management strategy, roadmap, implementation plan and related policies and in liaison with the corporate knowledge management subject matter expert(s) if and as required.
b) In consultation with colleagues, develops methods, processes and tools to identify and respond to knowledge gaps as they relate to the Practice, and proposes way forward to close these gaps. Monitors follow up actions accordingly and escalate any issues as required.
c) Cascades and adapts the corporate standard operating procedures and guidelines to the Practice’s knowledge management system and supports their implementation.
d) Serves as a focal point for the Practice of any corporate-wide knowledge management initiatives, including learning programmes related to knowledge management and the Practice’s thematic areas (gender equality, human rights, community engagement, youth engagement and key populations. Provides inputs into the design, architecture, creation, upgrade and substitutions of essential knowledge management infrastructure and processes, as required by the corporate subject matter expert(s).
e) Provides targeted, on-call and on-demand support to colleagues in the global equality and rights for all practice with the aim of improving knowledge management and sharing across the Practice.
f) Participates in knowledge management networks and keeps abreast of good practices to proactively seek innovation and continuous improvement of the knowledge management system in the Practice.
2. Community of Practice moderation and facilitation
a) As directed and in liaison with the respective Practice’s Director and teams, develops a detailed design for specific communities of practices related to gender equality, human rights, community engagement, and youth engagement and leadership.
b) Develops outline and full content; invites and facilitates different levels of participation, facilitates and moderates discussions online and through other channels, identifies appropriate guest moderators, ensures constructive and respectful dialogues, webinars, e-discussions etc., manages diverging viewpoints and responds to critical comments.
c) Provides training to guest and regular moderators from inside and outside of the UNAIDS Secretariat to ensure communities of practice sustainability, diversity and growth.
d) Engages in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of communities of practice guidelines and other quality assurance tools ensuring appropriate data/information flows with the aim of maximizing knowledge sharing impact and strengthening communities of practice. Supports department staff and focal points to coordinate communities of practice as required.
3. Content development, monitoring and reporting
a) Prepares – jointly with content owners – edits and proofreads reports, case studies and other printed materials of the Practice that is officially published by UNAIDS.
b) Maintains the Practice’s database of case studies, publications, knowledge products and ensures that key messages, lessons learned, resources related to gender equality, human rights, community engagement and youth engagement and leadership in the HIV response are accurately reflected in the Practice’s knowledge products.
c) Monitors developments at the global, regional, and country levels as they relate to the Practice, working closely with individuals and teams across UNAIDS, to track progress and gaps in the response to inequalities and related gender equality, human rights, community engagement and youth engagement and leadership issues.
d) Produces ad hoc and periodic reports on knowledge management activities in the Practice.
4. Performs other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree at Master´s level or equivalent in Public Health, Communications, Information and Communication Technologies, Public Policy or Administration, Business Administration, Health, Human Rights, Women’s or Gender Studies, Law, or another field related to the responsibilities.Competencies:

Essential: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of gender equality, human rights, communities, and youth in the AIDS response that includes work in knowledge management, communication, and content development.
Desirable: Prior experience with media, facilitating dialogues, forums, symposia, community of practice and others, preferably including blended formats. Prior experience with a wide variety of stakeholders, including civil society, government, human rights, gender and youth networks, the United Nations system and so on.Languages:
Essential: Proficiency in English.
Desirable: Knowledge of additional UN official languages.Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization’s Mobility Policy. The above mentioned position is a rotational position and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.

USD 64,121 at single ratePost Adjustment: 81 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
