Purpose
Amnesty International is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Open Source Investigator Consultant to join our digital investigations team for a fixed term of three months, working full time or nearly full time. As an Open Source Investigator Consultant, your primary focus will be the discovery and verification of social media content to support ongoing investigative projects.
**Consultancy End:**This is a three-month consultancy.

Objectives and deliverables
As the consultant, you will collaborate with digital investigators in the Evidence Lab, crisis researchers, and researchers from Amnesty’s regional offices. Your role will involve combining and cross-checking witness testimony, geo-spatial and open source data, and other relevant information sources.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Discovering open source content on major social media platforms and search engines.
- Creating and maintaining collaborative datasets for research, storage, and analysis of open source and other content.
- Verifying audio-visual evidence, including chrono and geo-location (this may include both open and closed sourced content).
- Writing analytical reports presenting factual evidence.
- Visualizing findings for final research outputs
Essential Requirements
- Professional experience in open source investigations, verification and publication, with a preference given to work that contributes to human rights documentation
- In-depth understanding of major social media platforms.
- Proficiency in content discovery, verification and preservation techniques, including advanced searches across multiple platforms.
- Geo-location and chrono-location, analysis of satellite images, etc.
- Proven ability to work in a dispersed team with capability to self-manage and meet targets.
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English.
