Blended Concessional Finance (BF) is a key tool in the execution of IFC’s 3.0 strategy Creating Markets. Partnerships and Blended Finance Department has a mandate to raise, manage, and deploy funds from the external contributors, including for advisory, upstream, and blended finance operations. Within the Department, Blended Finance New Business and Portfolio (CBFNP) division is responsible for adequate fundraising, management, and deployment of BF funds.
As of today, CBFNP manages a pool of contributor funds of over USD 7 billion, with expectation of continued rapid growth of funds under management. BF funds support IFC’s engagement in the most developmentally impactful areas: IDA and FCS countries, climate, infrastructure, gender, and others. These funds are co-invested on concessional terms alongside IFC’s own resources, enabling projects that would not otherwise take place otherwise.
CBFNP seeks a Operations Analyst to support this work. Being part of CBFNP, this position will also provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to work across different industry groups and regions within a creative and results-oriented environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Operations Analyst will operate as a member of the CBFNP team based in Washington, DC. Specific roles and responsibilities would include:
Facility Management and Portfolio/ Pipeline Monitoring
• Monitor pipeline and assist facility coordinators and facility managers; assist facility coordinators in preparation of funds utilization reports.
• Track and maintain portfolio summaries for relevant BF facilities; in coordination with BF investment and operations officers.
• Provide support on donor reporting, including supplying information and ensuring accuracy of quarterly and semi-annual operational, financial, and results reporting.
• Provide support for Donor’s annual reports including research, drafting, editing, fact-checking, design and layout new sections under the guidance of facility coordinators and facility managers.
BF projects support
• Work with Blended Finance Investment Officers (BF IOs) to identify and assess potential Blended Finance projects across Facilities and regions.
• Support BF IOs’ engagements with industry teams to develop innovative blended finance solutions and structures.
• Support BF IOs in execution of BF projects, including performing analysis and drafting BFC note under BF IOs guidance and supervision.
Fundraising
• Support new blended finance (BF) fundraising initiatives, including performing analysis of current IFC pipeline/IFC thematic pillars, preparing materials for fund raising proposal.
• Support collaboration of facility coordinators with the IFC’s partnerships team as needed, contribute to the dialog with contributors on topics related to IFC’s BF approach and governance; provide analytical support to negotiations between IFC BF team and BF contributors.
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (business, finance, economics, international development); Master’s degree a plus.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with international organizations, bilateral agencies and donors, including a good understanding of IFC, its mission and activities.
• Relevant experience in IFC investment operations is a plus.
• Relevant experience with climate, gender, infrastructure, food security or SME finance and blended finance contributors is a plus.
• Must have demonstrated ability to methodically and efficiently synthesize large volumes of information from diverse sources to compile data, prepare quantitative and qualitative management reports and present concepts, ideas, etc. for presentation to senior management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions; ability to perform medium-level complexity calculations and modeling.
• Proven writing and editing skills and strong command of English, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, direct and lively manner. Ability to design and deliver effective ppt presentations and create other materials such as infographics with focus on their graphic design.
• Excellent computer skills and ability to use standard technology packages, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and web content management.
• Productive and comfortable at multi-tasking, with the capacity to work under pressure; capable of initiative and working independently under limited supervision, and
• Good team player who can build good relationships and support colleagues to complete projects and various reporting commitments within tight deadlines.
